  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone had issues with the trunk randomly popping open?

On my 2015 3.8, the trunk periodically doesn't seem to want to stay closed. I'll firmly close it, pull on it to make sure it's properly latched, then as I walk away it just pops open. It's almost like the key fob is sending a signal to open the trunk, but I have it in hand and make sure I am not accidentally pressing the release button.

Did you try closing the trunk and moving the key out of range before it shuts completely?

This isn't a power-closing trunk - so the binary options are shut or not. There's no partial completion of the process. I have tried moving the fob out of range and then going back and shutting the trunk - and it worked once or twice.

Did anyone ever figure this out? Mine just started doing it

yes... doors locked - but I think when this occurs it's difficult to even get the doors to lock/unlock. No confirmation beeping etc. But once the doors are locked, can walk away from the car and it'll pop open. It's annoying.
Have walked out to the car and the trunk is popped (It doesnt fully open up anymore - good thing)

If you have smart trunk enabled (even the non-powered one) and the doors locked, the trunk will open if it senses the smart key behind the car for a few seconds.

Yes, This. My car was delivered new with the non-power smart(?) trunk enabled and it was while learning the screens and menus came across the check/uncheck. Much easier now. I can imagine some people and situations it might be more convenient than for me.

I'm familiar with the smart trunk and use it often. There is no beep beep beep before the trunk unlatches and sometimes I'm not even around it whenever it does it.
I've taken my gf's key out of her purse to narrow things down.... lol

I ran into this issue and fixing the wiring for the trunk did the trick.
That makes sense if the wires in the harness cracked, known issue, and make contact randomly.
