  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Have a 2012 GTI. No logical reason to replace it. Obsessed with a 2015 Genesis Coupe.

Genesis Model Type
No Genesis Yet!
Long story short. I test drove a 2015 Genesis Coupe with the manual (I'm pretty sure base model) last weekend and I can't get the damn thing out of my head. It was a hell of a fun drive. My current car is a 2012 GTI Autobahn with a stick. It's great, and there is zero logical reason for me to get rid of it, except that it has a tendency to surprise me with big expensive repairs every so often, which so far have been largely warranty covered. The latest thing - the thing that made me go looking to replace the GTI - is that it suddenly needed the intake manifold replaced. Thankfully, because the intake manifolds on the GTI tend to go wrong, VW has an extended warranty in place that took care of the cost of it, but if that hadn't been there, it would have cost me $1,700. This after I spent more than $800 (after yelling at the dealership for ages...don't even get me started) replacing the radiator and ...water pump? I think? last year. So yeah, the GTI has its interesting quirks and features.

So I test drove the Genesis, and then I was like "This is dumb, I have a perfectly good car, why am I even thinking about this," but then...I don't know. The Genesis Coupe is in my head.

Should I buy the Genesis coupe?

Thank you for your attention.

If logic applied to car buying, we'd all be driving Plymouth Valients and Chevy Novas. Why not, they get you where you want to go. Makes perfect sense.

If you can afford it, want it, go for it. As long as you don't starve the family to do it.
