HDA II Implementation (GV80 vs GV70)

I test drove the GV70 and it seems that some of the HDA features like LCA ( lane change assist), auto highway speed are implemented differently on GV70. The differences are subtle but I think it makes them more usable on GV70. Wondering if GV70 has newer firmware and a software upgrade on GV80 will bring them in alignment?

I hope so. We own both and the GV70 is definitely more user friendly. The biggest improvement is the lane change feature, you can depress the turn signal all the way and remove your hand and it will change lanes automatically, not like the GV80 that requires you to hold it in place at the first indent.

You have heard that HDA II features are being pulled from the newest Genesis cars due to the chip shortage? It's a real thing.

I understand if the underlying hardware is different. But HDA 1 or 2 should have similar experience regardless of the vehicle ( GV70, GV80 or the new EV's)
My broader question remains, can we expect to see any new feature updates in the newer GV's? So far the 2 updates on GV80 have been map related and did not really add or expand on existing capabilities.

You may get a lot of guesses but I doubt anyone ca give you an authoritative answer. And without that, what is the use of asking ?

I dont think existing vehicles can be upgraded, and we all have to wait to see the press releases of newer models coming out. Like Mcc implied, it's up to Genesis.

The removal of features with the chip shortage is a setback, I expect they need to overcome that before we can expect new features. So probably not yet on the 2023 models. No telling for 2024, but there may be info out there worth researching.

If they were upgradable, Genesis would be telling us that. Ford put out a release that they would be shipping "incomplete but drivable" vehicles with some features removed but they would ship the chips to dealers within one year to be installed in the vehicles. Seems like a better solution, if possible.
