  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys,

my car is 6 year old.
Maybe i'm imagining it, but when I drive the car at night, the headlights illuminate less the road the road than when the car was new.
I feel like the lights are not so strong and it is getting tough to see the road normally.
Headlights being aligned, but it's the same. Even my wife when get behind the wheel always complain about how poor and short are the low beam lights of the Genesis.
Someone else like that and someone find solution?

I thought to replace the HID bulbs with Osram Nightbraker or the Philips Extreme

My 2015 headlights are as bright as when we got the car in 2016. Triple the light coverage of the Chevy my wife owns.

Check battery maybe? Worst case, replace with new bulbs.

How are your headlight lenses? Are they cloudy? If so, it might help to refinish them.

I don't think that the HIDs on the 2015s are that great. at least on low beam - the LEDs on the wife's 2014 Soul ! seem much brighter....

I replaced with Nightbreaker Lasers and while they're a marked improvement over the OEM lamps, I would still go with CBNs next change. The NBL is just too yellow and doesn't make some road features crisp enough at night.

Also have to recalibrate the headlamps higher than OEM which lands the cutoff some 75 feet down the road- the cutoff should be a degree or two shy of horizontal so that it doesn't gain altitude but you can't normally see it on the road. The brightest part of the beam pattern is about 20 degrees under the cutoff plate so this alignment lands your vision range about 130ft with a gentle taper after.

The high beams will just suck, though- the vast majority of the high beam pattern is notched horizontally above the cutoff, resulting in two vertical slivers of light that are largely useless as an additive light source. Just reconcile yourself that the high beams will be less bright than lows+fogs if equipped.

Like mention above; adjust your headlights to aim higher. I used to think my 2015 Genesis headlights was crap until I aimed them higher. The factory headlight height settings are darn near aimed straight down to the ground.

I second this motion, the factory aim is very poor, I had to raise the aim about 2.5 inches, made a big difference.

Raising my headlight aim worked considerably better - when I added the OEM fog lights on a manual switch that I could run on high or low beam the lighting pattern was pretty darn good
