  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

looking for a fix for my 2010 Genesis heated and cooled seats that are not working. The dealership quoted just under $5,000.00 to repair.

I took the car in when the heated/cooled seats stopped working. Here is what the dealer said was wrong. The technician found the passenger side seat module to have an internal failure. The driver side internal heating elements both the seat back and bottom were shorted out. The cost of the module was $3,156.15 and the cost of replacing the driver seat back and bottom was $1,699.66 for parts and labor.

I am not happy about this!

Gail

Sorry if this is obvious, but check your fuses.

The seat cooling module is $300 on line, see link here. Heating elements should be less.

Find a good local auto upholsterer and have them do it. $750 to $1000 tops.

Since I am a huge first generation Genesis fan and of depending on the condition of the vehicle, I would use this as an excuse for getting the latest "Recaro Othoped" seats. $5k for fixing the old seats is not worth it.

Ouch! I see two choices. Live with it or trade it for a new G80. The dealer may look at the car for trade but unless they know you were in the service department, they most likely won't check the sets.

As stated already, get the parts online and go talk to a few upholstery shops. Depending on where you live this may or may not be a pain.
Or look for a wrecked Genesis and buy the full seat or parts used.
$5000 was basically the dealership saying "please don't ask us to do this because they have never done nor will again.

Nice, I figured there were other ways to fix the car and was curious what type of auto retailer to take the car to. I'll see what I can find on a upholster in town. Thanks! love my car and know you never get out of them what you paid for them. I'm in the Pacific NW and need those heated seats!

So, I would assume a dealership would check the fuses..... but your right, its not always the obvious.

Or, you could own an extended warranty that runs till 2024 like mine does. I bought it in '14 for $1,295. This week the rear sunshade motor gets replaced. It's getting noisy.

I had driver's seat ventilation go out. The dealer determined that a thermistor had failed. To the tune of $1,000. Fortunately, I had purchased extended warranty which covered almost all of it. The sad part of the whole story was that the dealer had contacted Hyundai support for assistance and got none. The engineers screwed up big time on this issue. The dealer did come through for me, and got it repaired properly.
