  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi. When my friends see my Genesis i tell them how great its and they like it alot but some times some people ask me, why i didnt get Toyota Avalon or Chrysler 300 C instead!!! if you where instead of me what you would answer???

I actually owned a 2000 Avalon for 11 years before buying the Genny and it was a very reliable car. It had shortcomings in the power department, rolled too much in the corners, the front seats were uncomfortable (for me) and I could not see the dash instrumentation when the steering wheel was properly adjusted. Far and away though it was the best car I ever owned.

But when we decided to give it to my daughter and I went shopping for a new car I decided to see if the Genesis actually lived up to its credentials in the auto magazines. I actually was in the market for a 3.8 but spotted an R-spec on the back lot, took it for a test drive (out of curiosity) and ended up buying it.

I have only one complaint - it has too many bells and whistles (features). I could do without a bunch of the features that make it a luxo-car. Basically all I wanted was the suspension, engine and a great audio system. Anything else is overkill. But it is fun overkill and I am very happy with it.

I owen the 2012 3.8 middle east option model, im living in middle east. Greatest car i ever owned, i had sonata 2009 then got tucson 2011 n then Azera 2012 and now Genesis 3.8 2012, non of previews drives like geny its so great car.

Here's what I'd say.....

"Because Toyota and Chrysler don't make the Genesis" :D

There should be a prize for the best answer.
You would get it !:D

1) compared w/ the Chrysler, the genesis offers better quality overall. i've read plenty of car review articles that seem to all concur on that.

2) the genesis offers a 5 year / 60k mile b to b warranty and 10 year / 100k mile warranty on the motor/tranny. Toyota and Chrysler does not.

3) there's not much comparison w/ the genny and the avalon when it comes to luxury, as the genny offers much more luxury than the Avalon. does.

4) the genny looks much more classy, sophisticated and sportier than both the Chrysler and Avalon.

5) on a more subjective or personal level for myself, the Chrysler 300 is little too ghetto looking for me, and the Avalon is a bit too "plain Jane" looking.

Was parked next to a 2013 300 with the V6 and some nice goodies inside but at $37k it was only $4k less than I paid for my new 13 RSpec. No way I'd pay that much for a Chrysler with a V6 no less.

Would have never guessed you from and living in the "Middle East". Just exactly where are you located?

You nailed it on all 5 points, especially #5!!

Because the Avalon is boring and the 300C is a Chrysler (even in the US where these are made we regard them as garbage).

I would tell them I was hit by an RPG and suffered irreversible brain damage.

Agreed, in addition mechanically:
-Avalon is FWD (Genesis RWD this was a big selling point for me)
-Avalon V6 is under-powered compared to the Genesis 3.8L
-Latest Avalon has 6-speed vs Genesis 8-speed

Avalon is lighter and has better fuel consumption but you give up a lot for this.

If someone made that type of comment to me, I would simply say, "because this is what I wanted". Then I would tell them where they could stick their Avalon.
