If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey there friends! Newbie here. Ive already done quite a search on this topic but i cant seem to find what im looking for. SO heres a little background. In Feb. 2016 I purchased my 2010 Genny 4.6 with 28,790. I current have 32,644 on the clock and for some reason AFTER I drive and the engine warms up and has been sitting for a good 20 or 30 minutes i get this rattle when the engine starts. This rattle only occurs once Ive driven the engine has warmed up. Ive never heard this rattle in the morning upon first start up. Im concerned what this could mean. I think it may be the timing chain tensors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

most likely the sound is the timing chain rattling until the tensioner takes up the slack.

But you have really low miles, chain and tensioner should not be very worn at your mileage. I would make absolutely sure you have the right oil filter properly installed and are running 5-30 oil. I have read about a lot of crushed or wrong oil filters in these engines.

And thats what i thought initially, i got the oil changed at a local oil stop with i oil filter i got from my local hyundai dealer and 5w-30 oil. Still no improvement.:mad:

I have a friend who is a master Hyundai tech and he has told me to try Lucas oil treatment first to quiet the rattle. It is ( in his experience) the timing chain tensioner and he doesn't believe it to be of major concern. He is is the process of putting Lucas in my '11 3.8 and I'll let you know if that quiets the rattle

Are you using regular or premium gas?

You better get the car checked by dealer ASAP. Also, have only oem Hyundai oil filters been used. I think the sound is related to an oil circulation problem. Do not use any oil additives in the 4.6 V8.
