  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am going to buy a new Genesis this year. I have pretty much ruled out the 2015, because I don't like the first year of any re-design.

But I have decided on a R-Spec.

So, I am thinking I'll just get a 2014....So, I go to the Hyundai Site and 'Build my Genesis. I get to picking the Color and the Cabernet Red Color is Gone from the 2014 Models! It looks like there are only colors for 2014 R-Spec and I already have a Gray 2011 Genesis. I won't pick white or black, so Silver or Gray is my only choice. If I pick Gray, I've got 2 Gray Genesis in the Garage.

So, now I am thinking; should I try to find a new 2013 Red Cabernet Color R-Spec somewhere in the country or should I 'settle' for a Gray or Silver 2014 R-Spec?

My Questions are.

1.) What does the 2014 have that the 2013 Doesn't? IOW - Does the 2014 R-Spec have features that I would want vs. the 2013?
2.) Could I even find a Red 2013 R-Spec somewhere in the U.S.? And how would I go about finding one?

I don't think there is any difference between the 13 and the 14 RSpec

I believe the 2014 added a heated steering wheel and some level of BlueLink change or discount.

Someone on this forum claimed that the transmission shifting has been changed n the 2014, and acceleration lag has been virtually eliminated. Just repeating what someone else posted. You can search the forum to see if you can find it, or better yet just do a test drive.

I believe only the Canadian version has a heated steering wheel.

I was at the dealer getting some service done. A friend is interested in an R-spec. I talked with the manager and got some prices from him. A new 2013 is about $3000 cheaper than a new 2014 due to both published rebates and non-published dealer incentives. Is a heated steering wheel worth that much?

By the way, my 2013 seems to shift just fine.

That 2014 will be $3K cheaper when a truckload of 2015's is pulling in the dealers lot. Any 2013's still around will be given away at that point with every oil change visitor ;)

There are enough differences from a 2013 to a 2014 for me to go with the 2014. I hate it too that they have narrowed color choices, but, I'm a fan of white cars since they show dirt waaay less than black and gray is just that... gray (which is what I have haha).

Also, the depreciation factor involved between a 2013 to a 2014 would be enough incentive for me to go with the newer model. Just my 2 cents and best of luck.

Agreed !...... I have had a lot of Silver Cars and believe they are the easiest to keep clean. (They all get dirty). I have a Gray Genesis and I believe it is the second easiest color of Genesis to keep Clean.

I had a Dark Blue once. It was almost as bad as Black (Which is the worst).

After mulling this over the last few days (And after watching the 2015 Genesis Premiere Video), I may have come up with a new plan.

Since the 2015 will go on sale this spring, there will be plenty of 2015 Owners (Guinea Pigs) before next fall. If there are some major issues on the 2015, I should know by then.

Also since there are many new technical enhancements on the 2015 that I would like, I might buy a 2015. And it seems that there are other color choices on the 2015. It looked like there was a blue one on the video. The wheels on the 2015 looked far better than the R-spec wheels on the 2013 models.

The main problem I have with the 2015 is the Grill. This is so ugly compared to the rest of the car. But E&G classics may save the day with an aftermarket grill.

So my plan (As of tonight:D) is to wait until this fall of 2014 to see how the 2015 fares as far as reliability. If the 2015 looks like a big time problem, I'll get a Silver 2014 R-Spec. Otherwise I'll get a 2015 in a 2015 Color (Whatever those are)
