Hello everyone, My name I Larry I am new to this forum and would like to see if anyone can help me with my 2011 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 4.6L V8.
An employee drove my Genesis to a job site and end of day was unaware of the gas gauge telling him to get GAS!! So he unfortunately ran it out of gas, parked it where it stopped, and hitched a ride home it was below 0 cold that night it sat without enough gas to start it up. Now I am left to figure out what really happened. Im stuck and don't want to buy the wrong parts.
These details I know to be a fact that I have researched and done myself:
I've obviously filled the gas tank- still won't start. Sounds like it wants to turn over but doesn't. Lights inside car come on as usual when you push start.
Took battery out and had it tested, it was full charge and the professional said it seems brand new. Eliminated battery issue, still no change to overall problem cranks but won't start.
Next I hand pumped the fuel out of the fuel pump and the gasoline was totally black. The gasoline I could see in the tank when removing the fuel pump was clean fresh gasoline. I pumped out about a full cup of black gasoline from the pump then it pumped clear again. So I reinstalled the fuel pump. And tried to start the car. It sounds exactly the same, cranks but won't start.
I checked the fuses and relays that I could find and replaced any that could have been an issue. Still no change.
Now I ask the knowledgeable folks reading this. What am I missing? What should I do next? Gas filter clog? New fuel pump? I'm at a loss.
Any and all insight would be greatly appreciated as I am no master mechanic but if it is something that I can do without it costing me an arm and a leg I'd appreciate the help. Thank you in advance, Larry
