  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am looking at a salvage with bad transmission. What years, models, etc will work? I am hoping they are all the same from 3.8 to 5.0
Thanks in advance for any feedback or help

Only 5.0 transmissions will interchange 3.8 will not...bummer

You are correct, the 3.8 and 5.0 have different transmissions. If you're looking at a 2015 to buy, be aware and keep your eyes open, they can be a bit of an expensive problem child if you have any troubles.

Both the 2015 and 2016 Genesis V8 transmission part number is as follows:

Hyundai Genuine Factory Part
Part Number: 450004E223
TRANSMISSION Genesis; 5.0L
Fits 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis 5.0

The 2012-2014 V8 transmissions are "similar" to the 2015-2016, but it has a completely different part number, so must be different in some way.

The 2015-2016 V6 transmissions are very similar to the V8, and not sure the difference (probably something to do with gear shift points, etc), but here are the part numbers (not the similarity of the part number with the V8 transmission):

Hyundai Genuine Factory Part
Part Number: 450004F223
TRANSMISSION Genesis; 3.8L; RWD
Fits 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis 3.8

It was only from 2009-2011 that they used "completely" different transmissions on the Genesis. The V8 used a ZF transmission, and the V6 used an Aisin transmission.

I don't have access to a Genesis Motors parts catalog, so not sure about 2017's.

2015 problem meaning both models V6 & V8? Looking at 2016 also.
Any guidance or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing specific but based on a body change on 2015 this forum seems to have an inordinate number of complaints. I would guess a lot of issues were corrected under warranty but if you are looking at a salvage vehicle warranties are not an available option. Not to say this model is bad, lots of owners have had zero issues, just keep your eyes open and know some of the pitfalls. A quick search through this forum may give you a little more insight as to what to look for in your search.

Hello, did you succeed to replace the transmission?

I have the problem on 2015 Genesis 5.0 and there is two types for the same model, differentiated with car manufacturing date: thru 06/27/2014 and from 06/27/2014.

Do you know if they are even interchangeable?

Had anyone found out by now if they are, I am really in need for one and the ones after 06/27 are the only ones available

Bump on the last question fr

5.0 2015 RWD Sedan owner here, and I love the body and car. I’m looking to upgrade the transmission, but with that being said I’m aware the stock v8 will also give out one of these days. With that being said, Are there any specific recommendations on a sick transmission upgrade that’ll last for now and an engine(for the future) that’ll go with the new transmission and other car specs
