  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all,

Couple of questions about touch up paint, have had it for a few years (Hyundai paint) and it's an OK match...definitely doesn't blend well but I assume it's necessary to prevent chips/rust from spreading?

Any tips for prep that help things blend better or adhere longer?

I've also had the paint in the garage (sees all 4 seasons), would I be better off just buying new paint/sealant at this point?

Thanks! Pics of damage, which are even more apparent now that the front bumper has been repainted:

Overall she looks pretty good for 49,000 miles!

Yes I would definitely replace it,4 yrs perticulary when kept in the garage should be renewed, plus hopefully there have been improvements in pigments.
And of course there’s price points, fresh touch up is not especially expensive.

Good points - it's going in for a driveshaft replacement and I'll just pick the paint up then too.

I would suggest you look into Dr. ColorChip. They have a unique process that yields good results. You apply paint to the chipped area and allow to dry then remove excess with a cloth and checmical they provide. Sometimes you have to reapply the paint and repeat procedure but I was able to get good results. I am not affiliated with this product in anyway except I am a fan and have bought touch up paint for every car I own since it is only a matter of time. :-)
