  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,
hoping someone here has had this issue. A month ago I noticed a low battery on my 2012 Genesis Rspec 5.0. I thought i had left the trunk open and maybe the light drained it a bit. Then a week later it was dead so I had it replaced. Battery light never came on. Then this past week late at night the car starting to die... all electrical going out, lights dimming which points to alternator. Video link below. So got it home and the next morning i go to jump it and it starts but then completely dies. Not even accessories turn on. Nothing. The tach drops to 1200 rpm and freezes instead of going to 0. Then I notice my jumper cables are smoking. Battery is fried. Thankfully the battery was under warranty and got another but now I am afraid to hook up the new one. Any ideas on what could have happened? A short? Blown fuse? Any help is appreciated!

11 year old car with an 11 year old car issue. Certainly a power issue with lots of possible contributing factors. Engine bay fuse block(s). Battery Fuse block. Grounds. Wiring Harness. And everything they're connected to.

Get the car in front of the best automotive electrician in your area, preferably one with access to a Hyundai GDS or equivalent so they can communicate with the various modules in the car. Pay them $250 or so for a proper diagnosis, they may discount some of that fee if they also perform the repair.

buy this kind of fuse tester. and then test all fuses.

buy an obd2 scanner to read fault codes. 20USD obd2 canner works good.
