  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have had an occasional problem with a long hesitation in acceleration (typically 3 to 5 seconds long), either from a stop or when going 0-5 mph. This has happened when the car is in "Comfort" mode. Has anyone else had this problem?

It sounds like what I had experienced early when the car was fairly new.
Now after 1000 miles it seems to be less of the effect.
It was pretty obvious when the engine was cold and at very slow speed.

I think... and it’s JUST MY OPINION.... that it’s just the engine’s transmission kick down and then surge response isn’t as immediate in comfort mode as it can be in sport. I’d time my 0-60mph times in both modes and in comfort mode it took 5.1s, but in sport it was 4.6s. Some people may have achieved faster times, but those were my numbers.

Next time try and disable traction control after you first start the car. See if the problem persists while driving. I've had traction control kick in when going very slowly and hitting a small bump or when turning and having a wheel come off even a very small lip from the curb if I turn just a little too tight. Traction control cuts power for a few seconds, no matter how far you press the throttle. No lights or warnings when it comes on. I've only had that happen when I'm going very slowly (ie less than 10mph).

Just a simple way to at least rule one thing out.

Keep us updated.

Thanks, I'll give that a try

I noticed it when the car was new also (has only 4700 miles now), but it hasn't improved. Although it doesn't happen often, once is too much - I almost got clocked pulling out into traffic, and the engine is warmed up in most cases.

Thanks for the response, I don't think it was transmission kick down, it happens from a stop and also when car has been creeping along at 2-4 mph or so.....

Thank you for this information, i will use it in my next purchase.

UPDATE: I've been driving the car with traction control disabled (Comfort Mode), and there was only one situation where I had significant hesitation, so I'd say it definitely improved the situation. I guess some hesitation is unavoidable with turbos.....note that it never happened when it was already engaged in Sport mode. Thanks for the advice Toddasaurus.
