  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G80 Sport
I just came home today with my new (to me anyway šŸ˜) 2022 G80 Sport Prestige. I’ve spent the last 16 years driving a 2009 Mercedes E350. It has been and still is an excellent car. I’m giving it to my son. At my age (77), I may not live long enough to drive the G80 for 16 years, but I plan on this being the last car I ever buy. I really like this car. Now I can spend the next month or so learning how to use all of the technology in it.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I’m glad you found us. Congratulations on your new Genesis G80! Being a Mercedes-Benz E-Class owner, the G80 is the natural choice from this brand. How are you liking it compared to the Mercedes?

I think the Mercedes handles better overall, but especially on curves at higher speeds; it runs just as smooth as the G80. I'm not a fan of how the G80 engine "studders" when the car stops. The AMG styling on the Mercedes is not as "aggressive" as the G80's, I love both. The G80's sound system is better, but not by much. The technology in the G80 is outstanding - no comparison there. The Genesis interior design is better. The Mercedes design is more simplistic, but the quality is evident.

When the 2022 G80 is compared to the 2009 E350, the G80 wins hands down. At the same price point, when the 2022 G80 is compared to a 2022 E350, the G80 wins hands down.

Thank you. I'm glad to see you're happy with the G80. It's pretty impressive how quickly Genesis leveled the playing field in the luxury segment. What are you thinking is the cause of the engine studder when the car stops?

A mild shake may better describe what I meant by ā€œstudder.ā€ It is similar to my wife’s BMW when it stops at a stop sign or light after a few seconds, I believe the engine is powering down a bit to conserve gas. Like the G80, it only shakes once. BMW allows you to turn that feature off. Mercedes hybrid engines behave the same. My 2009 E350 does not.

I’m not a big fan of it but I can certainly live with it with the G80 because there is so much to like.

Oh, yes, I know what you mean... Not a fan myself. :p
