  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone, stumbled onto this site while doing research on the Genesis sedan. I come from a BMW family and I think I'll break the traditions by getting a Genesis sedan over a new 5 series. Currently waiting to see when the release date will be for the 2012. I'm still doing research and this forum has been an excellent source of it.

Welcome ducky, my wife and I love BMW's and still have a Z3 6cyl. However, after test driving 535's and finding out about the direct injection and other problems of BMW lately we tested the Genesis sedan. First looked at a 3.8 v6 with tech then 4.6. We chose the 4.6 V8 which was only about 2000.00 more and has the ZF transmission(same as BMW). Ours is a 2011 purchased Sept. 20 and it now has about 11,000 miles on it. After all the miles and three months, my wife and I agree that we made the right choice. We both like cars with a firm ride with good handling and plenty of horse power, so the 4.6 fits us perfectly. I did months of research before the purchase because when we buy a car we keep it until it has around 250,000 miles on it. Good luck on your research and shopping.

Thanks, I was looking at a 535i but I can't say it represents much of a value because fully optioned the way I want it, it would cost well north of $60,000. The new twin scroll turbo has had some mixed reviews so far. I am really in love with the way BMW's handle, but I don't see the point in paying such a premium since I have gotten older and don't drive as aggressively.

I don't know how a 528i circa 2006 compares ride-wise to a newer BMW, but I've driven my father's 528i a good bit and from a handling perspective it was quite close to my 2009 Genesis with the Dunlops. Hope that helps.

By the way, Dad loves my Genesis and hates the unreliability of his BMW... just sayin'... :welcome:
