  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok Ok soo I've been doing lot of research the past week on Xenon Hid Kits. I'm gonna purchase one very soon but am stuck on what temperature (K) to buy (I'm thinking 6000K honestly). I've heard 6000, 5000, and 4300 are the best but which really is? I want the Tech Package Xenon (BMW, ACURA) look in my projectors. Can anyone offer some advice or good photos/videos of difference and which is they way to go? Also, best place to buy? I'm looking to buy from http://www.diodedynamics.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=113

Thanks!! :)

I gotta jet to work, so here's a quick response. If you're looking for the most light output 4300K would be the choice and is what's factory systems use in cars.

You do know that the Genesis already has HID headlights right?

Huh, must have read the brochure incorrectly, I thought the 4.6 came with it, but it is in fact a Tech feature. So...you are correct!

I would do 4300 cuz in time the temp of HIDs go up(slightly). this is one thing i wouldn't mess with unless you want to look good running into a deer or what ever may be in front of you

4300 is daylight, but I'd go 4500-5000K range - slightly purer looking and brighter without being stringent.

5000k to 6000k would be close to the factory light color. The 6000k will have a very slight blue and the 5000k will be a whiter color. Also has anybody installed HID's on there Genesis yet? I have been thinking about it but I am concerned how they will work with the Canbus system. I tried putting HID on my 2002 Dodge Ram and they would flash even though the light switch was off. I had to remove them and put factory lighting back.

Clarification:
Every 2011 4.6 L has Xenons. That's because every 2011 4.6 L is completely equipped.

For 2011 3.8 L, Xenons are an option, and they are available only with Tech Package, which is available only if one also springs for the Premium Package.

I put the ballasts in the engine bay but Disaster put them inside the light assemblies - no drilling needed.

4300k

Search the forum for installation tips. I posted my installation photos in an hid thread a while ago with tips on how to route the wiring and where I secured the ballasts. I would physically secure them with something else than doublesided tape due to all the vibration and temperature changes the engine bay experiences. I ordered 5k bulbs, did not fit, had them replaced with H11's from a different company and those are 5500 kelvin. Initially they are blueish, but after a minute become same color as theLED strip. I would probably buy 4300 or 5000 if I were buying again.

6000K is pure white, which is both good for the looking as well as being practical.

True white would be the 5000K one....6000K has a slight tint of blue. If you got the LED strip it matches with the 6000K IMO
