  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Heard a noise last night, but thought nothing of it. I went to put some stuff in my car this morning, and my neighbor asks me if I knew I had a flat tire. I walked around to the other side of the car only to see it had been hit. I usually park on the driveway, but my contractor was coming the next day, so I just left it on the street...oops...

Ouch... sorry about your Gen.

That sucks big time. Check with all your neighbors. Reprot it to police, they may find the car.

Can make one ill. Hope they find the idiot.

My neighbors didn't see anything. I did report it to the police and contacted my insurance. Geico called it an uninsured motorist claim, so fortunately I don't have to pay the collision deductible, just the comprehensive deductible. Also, they are giving me a "free" rental even though I didn't pay for rental insurance. So it could be worse. I'm choosing to look on the bright side and am going to use this opportunity to swap out the Dunlops for something else. Hopefully they let me use the money towards something else.

I can't decide between Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval (B3G1 right now), or the Continental ExtremeContact DW. I have a set of winter tires, so I figure summer tires make sense.

On the plus side, kudos to Hyundai for making the mirror flip back like that. I thought for sure it was broken when I saw it, but it is made to do that. There are a couple scuffs on it, but it is hardly noticeable. It may have broken off completely otherwise.

parking in the street SUX. i hate when i seal my driveway because then i have to leave my vehicles in the street for a few days.. i just found a scuff on my front bumper(lower) couldn't figure out how it got there. then measured up one of my kids bicycles and what do you know? same height and circular scratching pattern as the freakin pedals... worse is it wasn't my kid's bike it was the neighbors trying to squeeze past... you just can't WIN..

Both of your tire choices are good one but also consider the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity tires.

May that thoughtless jackwagon suffer a similar fate with something he/she cherishes. Whaddya say, Karma?

OH My.. I am torn... I hope it will be restored... I know how this one feels... Some idiot made an illegal U-Turn over a double yellow lane and hit me. At the body shop, a truck roll down the street and crashed into my rear trunk. LOL. i just couldn't do anything but laugh it off... sigh...

Sometimes a car is just jinxed for no reason. I bought one of the first new FWD Nissan Maxima SE in L.A back in 1985. A really nice and advanced car for its time. 5 speed, adjustable suspension, 160 hp V6 (a lot for the time) lady voice to warn of impending doom. My wife wants to drive it on the first day to work. At lunch, piles the girls in and heads to the local eatery. While looking for a parking spot some old woman in a Corvair backs out and into the passenger side slicing the sheet metal from front to back. We get the car fixed and the next time the wife drives it to work, some guy with an El Camino gets out his car and heads to the office. His car slips out of gear and heads across the parking lot and into the drivers side crunching both doors and the front and rear fenders. The upshot is that before the car was 4 months old, the only original sheet metal on the car was the hood and the roof.

Hows the dry grip on those compared to the dunlops?

Only had Dunlops for 50 miles before trading them in. I am not a real aggressive driver but with the limited experience I had in the few days I had Dunlops, I would say they are comparable but again, given my driving habits. They do ride much better and car is less jittery. They are grand touring tires with a W rating.

I priced out the Serenity tires, and the Firestone wide oval tires ended up being about half the price of the serenity tires due to the current promo. I'm just going to go with them and see how they are.

That ended up being over $1200 in damage. It sure didn't look that bad to me.
