  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What makes the ninth concept model developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Center in Namyang, Korea, particularly interesting is that according to the automaker, it's design and technical specifications hint at its "next-generation luxury sports coupe", by which Hyundai means the replacement to the Genesis Coupe.

As for the HND-9's powertrain, Hyundai tells us that it's fitted with a 3.3-liter V6 gasoline engine that employs turbocharging and direct injection technologies to deliver a maximum output of 370PS (365hp), paired to an 8-speed auto transmission driving the rear wheels. A similar drivetrain was featured on Kia's 2011 GT sports saloon study.

If Hyundai can get carry over the basic shape/design of this concept for the 2G Genesis Coupe, the GC would go from "bleh" to hot.

Since the 2G GC is supposed to be the coupe variant of Hyundai's upcoming RWD compact sedan, I wonder if any of this design language would also carry over to the RK sedan.

Interesting, I'd even say that it looks good to a degree. My one reservation is it's got too much of a "fastback" look to it. As is usually the case (unfortunately), the production model will look far tamer.

Word is that the "Venace" portends future Hyundai styling for more than just the next Genesis Coupe (or whatever it will be called).

I say do a toned down coupe for the entry-level luxury coupe (say, stating around $30k) with the V6TT as the top level engine and then do a high-end coupe which more follows the Venace in design w/ the 3.3TT as the base engine and the Tau as the top level powerplant.

Then put in a twin-turbo Tau as the performance line variant.

Looks like they had no idea what to do with the rear-end. :(
