Hole in my speaker cover

I have a 2009 Genesis Sedan, beige interior.

In the passenger-side front door, a hole was accidentally made in the plastic Lexicon speaker cover. The hole itself is about 3-4 inches in diameter. On closer examination, it appears as if much of the interior door panel is one piece. My gut tells me to replace the entire panel is quite expensive.

Does anyone have ideas for a less expensive strategy, such as a smaller , understated cover I can mount over the hole? I am not an expert on cars & parts and thought people might know here.

I'm dismayed this has happened. I love my Genesis and want to find a way take care of this.

Understood, Eve. Those speaker screens are very frail and fragile. Yes, the entire door panel will need to be replaced. Your best bet is to find a junker car and get a panel that way. If you have no other contacts, talk to your car dealer and they will help you to find a junkyard. As far as mounting something on top of the hole, a car audio shop might be able to mount some kind of speaker in there with a surface mount screen. I like the junkyard approach, myself.

Hyundai cheaped out on these speaker grills. Our '09 Ford Taurus has similar grills, but they are of much sturdier construction. With the Genesis, it's quite easy for a car wash attendant to damage those grills even if we, ourselves, are extremely careful to baby them. I have a dent in one of my speaker grills already. You can'timagine how I baby my car, so this must have been done by a car wash attendant or a Hyundai service man.

Thanks so much for the responses and the moderator repost to the correct group.

Though I feel grateful for my Genesis purchase (beginner's luck, I think), I'm nobody's idea of a car expert-- does anyone know good sites I can search that might have interior door panels?

You can cover it with some sort of speaker grill material. Like a thin felt, or similar?

One of those stores that specialize in car audio installations might offer some innovative ideas for a cover -as an alternative to an entire door panel swap. I'd d have them do at least the one opposite side identically (if not all four doors).

I agree on the audio shops idea. I just called Hyundai and their bargain price was $2,614.95 (just for the plastic panel-- wow!)
