It sounds like heat from your engine. The intake should pull air through the back of your hood near the hot engine. Just set it to auto.

Even though you turned off the climate control, it will still pass any air that is forced in by driving through the heater core if the cabin temperature is less than the set temperature. To prevent this, turn the climate control on and set the temperature to the min setting, then turn it back off. Now, it will not try to heat the air flowing in.
