  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

At the point of exasperation with my Genesis!

Now, the brake lights have stopped working.

Add to that the (unresolved) intermittent problems with:

1/ Bluetooth
2/ GPS
3/ Driver's seat will sometimes not go back.

Our dealer just repeats the tired mantra: "problems cannot be replicated."
Tamiami Hyundai in Naples Florida. Been there many times and no joy.

I am going to try to get out of my lease for this POS. Any sane (sane means
rational and reasoned) suggestions will be much appreciated.

PS My daughter drove the car with my grandkids in it and was pulled over
about the brake lights. No joke ... happened today!

Take a copy of the cite to the dealer and tell them to fix your car.

With regard to getting out of your lease???? Probably not.

The Florida lemon law may apply to your lease situation. Contact an attorney.

Closely check the lease terms and condtions regarding mfg. and dealer's responsiblity, if they have not followed the terms and conditons then you can get out of your contract at no cost.

In California, your vehicle would qualify to be replaced or monies refunded under the Lemon Law. Of course you need documentation that the car was at the dealer X times for the same problem(s) and couldn't be fixed.

A friend of mine returned her Nissan Maxima for problems that could not be resolved and received back all her payments, down payments etc... Of course she had a great lawyer specializing in California Lemon Law. It might take two months or so, but you'll be a happy camper.

Who pays the lawyer?

Google Leasebusters.com and read about what you can do.

Probably the best for your sanity is to just go and try to negotiate the end of the lease into a trade for the type of car that you want and take your lumps. Even lemon laws do not completely indemnify you from the costs related to invoking it. The length of time you have had the car will be factored into the final settlement, the cost to you for an attorney and the angst during the whole process are probably not going to be worth the trouble. How much time is left on the lease? If it is not more than a year then it quite possibly will be done before you could reach a settlement or a short time can be used to just negotiate an early release. In any event good luck getting what you want.

Do not listen to anyone saying "you'll have to bare some of the costs" not true. Contact a lemon law attorney that handles these cases in your state and they will help you. Just keep bringing it back and having it documented. they need to start attempting to fix these problems so your repair bills indicate they changed XXXXX part and it's fixed just for you to go back again with the same issues, document document document... i went through this on a GM lease. got paid $5k and kept my truck for the remaining 16 months (basically for free). Dealers aren't stupid, they know the routine. they will try to hand you back your car saying they did nothing, that defeats your lemon law case. they could even repair a wire or something and to not catch crap from the dealer principal, service manager, etc., not put it on paper just give it back to you and say it works fine. seen this happen when i was in the new car dealer service business. especially on brand new cars that were brought back in the first month of ownership. Good luck

Thanks for the helpful responses.

They did fix the problem today (a diode) and it was the best and fastest service experience yet. It seems that one has to be a 'squeeky wheel' these days to get the service that used to be considered standard. Or, if it is a safety issue, they do the right thing.

I am going to investigate the lemon law here (FL), but am not very hopeful. Our problem is that we are a single car family and don't have the luxury of leaving it at the service center for extended periods. Also, the 'faiure to replicate the problem' has thwarted us.

The dealership promise of a loaner car has been a bad joke for us.
