  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Like others, I'd like to hard-wire a dash-cam to my 2015 rear-view mirror but need instructions on what steps to follow.

Are there any decent YouTube videos or maybe how-to websites that offer this info?

This is what I used Amazon.com: SimpleUSBCable 12V to MiniUSB Two-Prong Universal Dashcam Adapter: Home Audio & Theater The install was quick and simple, just slipping the pins into the back of the mirror power harness. I followed this guide here: How to get to the wiring harness for rear view mirror on 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD? That's about the most compact/simple solution I found, if you can catch it in-stock anyway

There's a lot of taps for radar detectors (Blendmount mirrortap, etc) that are12v, but I've not seen many that include the 12->5v conversion for usb cameras. Could do a bit more DIY with something like this: Amazon.com: eoocvt DC Converter Buck Module 12V Convert to 5V USB Output Power Adapter: Home Audio & Theater

I use something like this VIKEWE Upgraded Dash Cam Hardwire Kit with Mini and Micro USB Port, 4m Car Charger Cable 12V-24V to 5V, Battery Drain Protection, 5 Fuse Kit with ACU/ACN/ACZ/Micro2/Micro3 for Dash Cam, GPS Navigator : Amazon.ca: Electronics

Tap into your fusebox, run it up the pillar behind the airbag and across the top of the windshield. You can tuck it into the headliner easily.

If you want to use pins, I'd use the power from the LKAS camera, hide the harness up behind the cover and just have the USB cable hanging out. I'd tap into the fusebox with the add-a-circuit tap though. Just to be safe
