  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The maddening automatic door locks? The manual tells me about them, but not how to turn the feature off. I pick up a couple of people and never put the Genny into Park. So I have to remember to unlock the doors a couple of times a day. I know it seems like a little thing, but when it's raining and your soon-to-be passengers are waiting to get in, every second counts.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Take it to the dealer. Their GDS (computer) has to do it. While your at it, ask them about the other features that you can change. Personally, at my Hyundai dealer, I get excited when customers ask me to change the features because I let them use our $15,000 computer to put the features just to their liking. :D

Tech package car? If so, it's trivially easy to do it yourself. Non-Tech package ==> need the dealer's GDS system as Mozz posted.

Tech package:
Engine idling, transmission in neutral:
Press the lower/right INFO/PHONE button on the DIS panel
If the phone stuff displays, press INFO/PHONE again.
Scroll down to Car Settings and push the DIS knob down to select it.
Scroll to Auto Door Lock and press the DIS knob down.

From here, set how you want the auto door locking function to operate:
Off = disable the auto locking function completely
Vehicle Speed = doors lock once the vehicle is driving faster than a factory set speed
Shift lever = lock when moving the shifter out of Park (factory setting)

There is also a corresponding "Auto Door Unlock" menu in the Car Settings menu.
Off = locks never automatically unlock
Key Out = doors unlock when key fob is removed
Shift lever = doors unlock when going into Park
Driver's door = all doors unlock when the driver's door is unlocked.

There is no "unlock when vehicle speed is zero" option... so for what you asked about, disabling the auto-lock function is probably the answer.

Hey, Mozz - you would know - can the dealer set my '11 Tech so that all 4 doors unlock when I press the driver's side handle unlock button just once (rather than twice)? My dealer didnt' know and told me to contact HMA because "customers can get more info from corporate than dealers can."

Thanks.

You can make that change yourself. Check the OM but I think you just press and hold the lock and unlock button on the fob at the same time and it will make the change.

I had this done on mine at the dealer. They couldn't change the behavior of the key fob, but the door button press now unlocks all doors.

Very strange. On mine I don't have to push any buttons to open all doors, just put my hand between the handle and the door and it happens!
Oh. I forgot I don't have the Gen anymore. Never mind.
:p

Nope, no Tech package here, unfortunately. So I'll have to scheule a quick appointment w/my dealer. Thanks, Mozz
