  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I'm in the process of replacing my Halogen projector headlights with the Stock Adaptive HIDs you can find in the tech/R Specs packages, and curious how the new Adaptive HIDs will work...?

When you open the HIDs, the projector actually pivots in a mount and I'm a bit confused as to what controls where the projector is focused while driving. I have a 2013 Sedan with the Premium Package, so the stock headlights are the garbage Halogen headlights. I would think something in the ECU would be wired to the steering to allow the adaptive headlights to pivot with the direction of the front tires, and if that's the case the Adaptive HIDs aren't going to do me much good. I'm hoping it's simpler than that... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Alex

Sorry, but I think you are correct. The adaptive lights are part of a package and they react to the turning of the steering wheel and speed of vehicle and level of the vehicle. I believe your car will not have the necessary wiring harness or programing.

In order for the "adaptive" HID to work properly, you would first need an AFLS ECU, vehicle height sensor, and all the necessary wiring. If you just want the HID lights to turn on, then you can just plug it in and it should work.

I'm assuming the auto level function simply sets to a default value that should point straight as if AFLS did not exist?
