  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

All of my cars have not had problems with paint chips on the front hood except one. This was my Nissan Maxima (96) -- It was terrible. Lot's of paint chips. I am trying to decide if I want a Clear 'Bra' installed.

I currently own a Nissan product (Infiniti G35 Coupe) and had a clear bra installed upon delivery in 2003. It turned out to be one of the best investments I have made. With today's paint, I would say that it would be wise to consider the install if you purchase as most cars today have fragile paint due to environmental regulations.

I owned 3 Honda Accords and 2 Lexus and none of them had paint chip problems like the Nissan. I wonder how the Genesis Holds up?

All depends on the roads & conditions you drive on. Concrete and asphalt roads do break down, sand - all will pit a paint job (hood, front facia and fenders) no matter what. Add some stones from dump trunk or poorly cleaned construction vehicle and you have paint chipping missles coming at you. No hardened paint, 40 coats will stop the damage from those.

I will say the Genesis touts paint finish to be better than Lexus, so from my observations, it holds up better than average.

Yup, I understand. All of my vehicles have had the exact same road conditions. Some hold up better than others. All I can say is that the 96 Maxima was terrible.

My previous car was a 99 Caddy STS. Repainted the front bumper 3 times over 10 years. After that, I put on a regular bra and left it on too long - paint underneath bubbled from all the moisture.
First thing I did with my Genny, was to get an invisible cover. Best investment I ever made!: cool:

Me too - I got the full front wrap with 3M VentureShield - bumper to front doors. In 6 months it has saved me at least 2 trips to the body shop. This stuff is tough - it was originally developed to protect helicopter rotor blades in sandstorms - and completely invisible.
