  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How fast?

Took a second ride across country.
Couldn't get it to go any faster. Tried all 3 driving modes.
2 speeding tickets on this 7.2K mile trip.
Luckily not going over 85mph both times.

Mentioned here quite some time ago that (most) manufacturers govern their cars to 2-3 mph (4-5 kph) less than the speed rating of the original tires. No maker wants some yahoo to drive from the dealer and kill himself in the first few hours by exceeding the limits.
edit: lawyers, lawsuits, complicit guilt, etc in my comment to protect maker and dealer.

Well I can't get mine to go past 240Kmh / 150Mph - I have a sixth custom tune and it pulls like a beats until 240kmh then goes flat. Anyone know of ways to bypass the limiter?

For reasons like this: Tire blew I have zero interest for top speed tomfoolery.

Hi Volfy, thanks and I do understand your position. My dad always errs on the side of caution too as he was a pilot for 50 years.

Reading some of the comments on the other thread, I did think this was a tuning , performance forum where we do things that break rules - maybe tires at high speed need not be one. Plenty of roads to get up speed and break safely.

Just as a follow up - the speed rating for my tires which are Michelin Sport 4's is 186 mph. I do now have the flash to remove the speed limiter. Will I do that or will I go that fast - probably not.

Couple of times I did 120 to 125 for a short time. Yeah, OK I did that. Not something I'd do for a very long time no matter how good the road is. While I was comfortable at that speed under ideal condition, I don't have the desire to do 150+ for some miles. Not the same a cruising the highway at 75-80. That I can do for hours.

totally agree, I got to that speed and was at it for maybe 10 secs then dropped right back down to more normal driving speeds - never something I would maintain for a sustained time or distance
