  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How is the Hyundai i40 (2012-2015)?

Europeboy here.

Was wondering how they held up in mileage, and maintenance. Do they tend to break often, or are overdesigned like VW? Are they built like a Toyota tank, but are boring to drive?

Was interested in some deeper experience, since the reviews don't really tend to describe stuff like that.

AKA Elantra Touring. We enjoyed one, a stick shift, for years. Disappointed when they replaced it with the smaller Elantra Sport. So we bought a Rogue - now, that was boring! Traded it for a supercharged V6 F Pace. Definitely not boring.

Really not many reviews on the i40 (the forgotten Hyundai over in Europe).

Likely not as good of a driver than what VW offers, but better than Toyota.

Hyundai has done very well in long term reliability rankings in Europe (such as for AutoBild), but can vary within model ranges, as well as powertrain choices within models.
