We read about all these folks who complain that they can't get obvious warranty items taken care of, or they can't get valet service or they can't get a loaner Genesis vehicle. In no way am I saying that there aren't some piss poor dealerships out there. We all know there certainly are, I just wonder some folks bought a vehicle from them.
Our G80 had 3 more pieces of discolored trim. Yeah it sucks and it shouldn't happen, but it did. I called the dealership (Classic Genesis in Mentor, Oh) and told them about it. The service manager asked me to bring the car so the could make sure they ordered the correct pieces. When I arrived the service manger called the parts manager agreed those 3 pieces need to be replaced. No fuss, no muss. No one telling me I could "buff" it out or anything else stupid like that. Just put a cherry on it they both then carefully checked all the rest of the trim to make sure it was in good shape. I was told that the order would be put in immediately and that they would call me when it came in.
About 2 weeks later I received a call telling me the new trim had arrived. I was asked if I wanted valet service and a loaner to which I answered yes. I was told they looking at nearly 2 weeks out for a Genesis loaner and I replied that it was no problem and we set a date. This morning at 0920 a nice young man arrived in 2021 G70. I told him that there was some wind noise coming the front area of the drivers door at highway speeds and he promised to pass that on.
At about 1430 I got a phone call from the service manager. He said that they had replaced the 3 trim pieces and test drove the car for the wind noise. He said they had only noted "slight wind noise", but were planning to order a new piece of weather stripping to make sure there were no issues. Asked if it would OK if they did the replacement the next time I had something done. (I am about 1000 miles from my next oil change) I gave my consent because I felt that that they playing straight with me.
Now for those of you who don't know I live 56 miles away from my dealer. They promised me when I bought the car that it would not be an issue and they have 100% stood behind that promise.
Those of you who can't seem to get valet service or a loaner or obvious warranty issues fixed under warranty without jumping through hoops need to find a new dealer. If your dealer was a pain to deal with when you were buying the vehicle why did you expect it would better?
This is how it should be.
