  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How long should the OEM tires last typically?

I am the new owner of a 2015 genesis. The Michelins on the car must be originals. They still have usable tred left (I didn't measure yet) - but I doubt I can make it past the Fall. The car has 28,000 miles on it. Its from North Carolina and I live in NY so the winters are an issue with snow. Im already starting to think about when to change out the tires and what to replace them with. My priorities are traction (wet and dry) as well as comfort and longevity.
Also, these tires seem to be a bit noisy. I get the low pitch growl from them on the highway. Not sure if that's normal.

My 2015 was in the early 30s when I got new tires. Could have gone longer but I was taking a 3000 mile trip and did not want to take a chance.

staggered sets about 25K. Non-staggered 35k-40k

Why would staggered sets last for less miles? Shouldn't it be the opposite?
You cannot rotate staggered tires front to rear, only side to side. Treadlife warranty by the manufacturers gets cut in half when they are staggered because of this.

My 2015 Michelins's made it to about 34,000.

Still riding on 3 of the original Continentals at 43K. Had to replace one rear tire because of a puncture awhile ago.

on my 5.0 RWD I got 32K on my cheap lexani's, and could have pushed another 4-5K but a sidewall blowout on a pothole and another that developed a slow leak lead me to just replace the whole set. Rotated every 6K (staggered).

What about age, not tread wear? I have 28,000 on the original Michelins but its a 2015, car was originally sold in Dec 2014 so the tires have been in use 6+ years.I read somewhere that over 5 years dry-rot starts

6 years if the car isn’t driven much and sits for long periods, 10 if it is driven at least several thousand miles a year.
