How many have had their headlights flicker off?

I'm going to subscribe to this thread for future reference in case I need something to show the dealer if they give me trouble...mine flashes the high beams when I use the signals. People in front of me really dislike it.

We have to get Hyundai to acknowledge this as a manufacturing defect. I encourage everyone who has had this problem to please call Hyundai of North America customer service and register a complaint. They are very nice about it. When I did so, I was told this was the first time they'd heard of this issue. Also log on to the NHTSA web site and file an incident report there. Takes about 3 minutes.

I am happy to have found this thread. I have a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. I realize this is a genesis forum, but it sounds like this electrical issue is on Hyundais in general. I have reported a very similar problem to the dealership several times over the past couple of years. I just got my car back for another fix (steering wheel wouldn't adjust) and of course, they couldn't repeat the problem of the electrical problem- I mention it each time I drop it off for warranty covered repairs. They also gave me the impression that they've never heard of this problem. But maybe I reported the problem incorrectly. I previously told Hyundai that my dash board lights would brighten when I used the turn signal. I think the dash board lights were brightening because my headlights were cutting off for a second and when your headlights are off, the dash lights are brighter for daytime use.

Last night, they went out for a few seconds. I was in traffic and on a well-lit road, but I could see I had no headlights on the car in front of me. I called the dealership as this was happening and told the service representative that my lights just went out. So I told him it used to be the dash lights brightened, but now that I got the car back, the headlights were impacted. So I think it's the same problem all along, but now that it's dark earlier, I can see my headlights going out in the reflection of my vehicle on the car in front of me. And again, last night, the guy I spoke to said he was not aware of any electrical problems related to the turn signal and headlights.

I just tried to repeat the problem and my headlights will not flicker. Does the car need to be moving? Thanks.

I have a 2012 Veracruz and am at 112k miles. For the past year I have noticed my headlights would flicker randomly when in the "on" position and using the right signal. I always thought it was the way I moved the signal arm potentially twisting the end slightly as I would sweep.

Over the past week, I have witnessed the lights turning on randomly (twice in one day) while in "auto" and it being sunny and broad daylight out. The following day, in the "off" position I had the lights turn on as I signalled right. Something is definitely not right and I would hate for this to become a recall after I pay the $$ for repairs. I am also hesitant of the dealers solution given what others have posted. Any new insight before I call the dealer?

So, years later....
I recently purchased a 2010 Genesis with the same problem others have noted of headlights shorting out under various conditions...high beam, low beam, turn signal use, Auto setting, On setting,...or whatever. There may well be a pattern of this problem and there are a lot of posts that I think should have lead to a recall but didn't so far. I did file a complaint with NHTSA but after so many existing complaints from multiple models of Hyundai, I think the recall is not going to happen. Another thread elsewhere mentioning the stalk replacement seems promising and I'm lined up to visit a recommended auto electric business in 2 weeks..
Finally, I would echo your suggestion to other Hyudai owners...."You should file a safety complaint with the NHTSA. " Headlights that can short out for seconds at a time is a serious and potentially deadly problem!

Sorry to revive an old thread..having this same issue on my 2016 Genesis sedan.

I figure a replacement of the turn signal stalk should fix the issue based on the threads I've read. Warranty was made active June 2016, wondering if anyone would know whether this type of replacement would still be covered. Based in Canada. Thanks

I was experiencing the same issue several years ago when my 2013 Genesis was still under warranty. The dealership replaced the multifunction switch which is what Hyundai calls the headlight switch. Anyways, fast forward to today and guess what. The headlight flickering is back when I activate the turn signals. Of course the car is out of warranty. I have filed a complaint with NHSTA and will see what happens. I wouldn't mind replacing the switch myself, its only a couple hundred bucks online. But I don't know if replacing the switch will resolve the problem.

TSB #20-BE-009H extends the warranty to 15 years, unlimited miles for 2015/2016 Genesis. Maybe there is sometime similar for 2013?
