In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Title. I started doing this and didn't realize how cool it looks. Yes they're dim but they look so much better than the amber halogens and they're bright enough.

How many 15 owners here drive with the parking lights on during the day?

I'm in TX and there is nothing in the code that says anything about driving with parking lights so I should be good to go.

Has anyone gotten away with it in areas like CA?

There are state laws about parking lights on?

Check the link in my signature to make them DRL bright ;-)

Is there any way to make it like a 16? Where DRL off is all lights off, Auto is bright DRL during the day, dim led and headlights at night, parking lights are dim led, and headlights are headlights and dim led?

I am sure it is possible but will require more work and this project itself is already a lot of work. The easiest way around this would be to add a on/off switch inside the cabin so you can move stalk to DRL OFF and use the switch to switch them off. It was never a problem for me or anyone who completed this project as far as I know.

Thanks for replying! Weird question but is this easily reversible? Just curious. Also I don't know if I could do it myself, maybe I could get a friend or a shop to do it for me.

Also, does the amber light on the side for the parking lights still work or do you lose that?

In California and Illinois AFAIK.
Illinois will not bother you with it. While I have not driven it in CA - I have gone coast to coast with it otherwise. No issues.

Set it to parking lamp mode instead. Problem solved. Set it there and leave it there. Go forward 1 click if you are driving at night obviously - but otherwise leave it alone. It will shut off with the car. Almost 6 years on my 2015, 113k miles before I sold it - not one bulb. Let the turn signals be turn signals. The eyebrows are plenty bright enough for DRLs - and even more so when you do the pin-move mod in the headlight units themselves, as listed in other threads for it.

Problem is they’re not all that bright so in direct sunlight they’re hard to see.

Don’t know about doing the mod as I am not very electrically inclined when it comes to vehicles.

How often are you driving into the sun? Your grille will be well-illuminated by it, along with your windshield... folks should not have a problem seeing you at all.

If you do the mod - it is indeed a LOT brighter and can be seen in pretty much any circumstance. The mod is not at all difficult from an electrical perspective - it is literally releasing a pin from each connector, moving it over 1 hole and pushing the pin back in. The most challenging part of the whole exercise is removing the front bumper cover - and even that is pretty easy with a little concentration :)

Brightness difference (passenger side not modified, driver side is modified - pin move):

Thanks for the reply! Well I'm in TX and the sun is very bright here so very often during the day. Do you lose the amber LED on the side doing this mod? Do you have to run another wire? And would the LEDs be bright at night?

Thanks for replying to me!

I've done this mod too, I do believe that you lose the amber LEDs on the side (i will check tomorrow)-the LEDs are bright at night but not overwhelming in my opinion, there are brighter ones on other cars. I just checked and I think you do lose them.

Thanks for all your help man. Looks like my best options at this point are either to:
Continue driving with the parking lights on during the day or in DRL off (but then I lose the automatic light function)
Find a way to code the turn signal DRLs out (I get the automatic light function back, honestly this is how the car should have shipped if they had run out of time to properly engineer the light as I heard).
Or get headlights from a 2016, run a new wire, and get a BCM from a 2016(this would give me exactly what I want, but is not feasible)

I think I saw another mod on here where the LEDs are bright during the day and dim at night, but the DRL off position doesn’t turn them off. It was a pretty intensive process though. It’s this one:

I think I would just have to make a switch in the fuse box like you said, which even that might be hard as I have a remote start module sitting in front of the fuse box I would have to move every time (Thanks Best Buy!)
