  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I would like to see if anyone has purchased the "Extended Warranty Hyundai Warranty" for a Genesis Sedan or Genesis Coupe and how much they paid for it.

I am looking into getting a Genesis Coupe from an LA Dealer- great offer so far.

I want the MAX warranty year and miles with ZERO DEDUCTIBLE.

Thanks.

I don't get it....Hyundai has a better factory warranty than most manufactures extended warranty....Why buy one?

Better peace of mind. Apparently, people buy it since Hyundai sells it...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Dealer F&I guy tried to sell me an "extended" warranty. F&I guys make more money for the dealership and themselves, than anyone else at a dealership. I TOLD HIM TO GO POUND SALT!

BTW, what your dealer is trying to sell you is an AFTERMARKET Warranty, not a Hyundai Warranty. (Not sure what the Factory Hyundai Warranty is in the Coupe). If the papers you are shown say Hyundai, (for the Coupe) it could be a Hyundai Warranty, but if the papers don't say that, (I don't mean typed in by the dealer), the aftermarket warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on. Big Scam. Run away from it. Run Run Run.

In all my years of buying cars, I've never purchased either a Factory Warranty or an Aftermarket Warranty. No Way! (I listen to Clark Howard, the "Consumer Warrior")

Only bought an extended warranty once. I drove my 2003 Elantra very hard, as I do all my cars, but I also do all the maintancent to prevent problems too. Bought the car with 33,000 on it, and when I traded it in for the Genesis it had 115,000 and ran like when I bought it.

I regret spending the extra $1,500 on the warrany which covered everything up to 100,000 miles. I think, "what could I buy for the Genesis if I had that money back":D

Everyone seems to think we have a true bumper to bumper warranty on our car.. My dealer explained to me that their are some not so true parts..after some pressing..

Our radio and navs are only warrantied for 3 years 36K miles. This is the part that really irritates me. When we bought our cars...what did they say over and over again? "BEST warranty in the industry".

The dealers continually say 5 year, 60K miles bumper to bumper warranty. It just isn't true.

Below is what I found on a Hyundai Dealer website regarding our warranty:

YEAR 60,00 MILE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER COVERAGE
NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY Covers nearly every new vehicle component.

•Covers repair or replacement of any component manufactured or originally installed by Hyundai that is defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance.
•Following components covered for time and mileage limits indicated:
◦- Radio And Sound Systems (i.e. radio, cassette tape drive mechanism, and compact disc player): 3 years / 36,000 miles
◦- Paint: 3 years/ 36,000 miles
◦- Battery: 3 years / unlimited miles (100% covered 2 years / unlimited miles; after 2 years and within 3 years, 25% cost of battery and 100% labor cost covered)
◦- Air Conditioner Refrigerant Charge: 1 year / unlimited miles
◦- Adjustments: 1 year / 12,000 miles
◦- Wear Items: 1 year / 12,000 miles (e.g. belts, brake pads & linings, clutch linings, filters, wiper blades, bulbs, fuses)

My dealer said that the NAV unit is considered a part of the radio, and is only warrantied for 3 years 36K.

If someone else has better info, please post. I was disappointed about the radio/nav warranty.

Bob
