  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HOW TO AVOID 90% SPEEDING TICKETS

Unfortunately – even in my older years – I can not slow down. I’ve had 11 motorcycles each over 1000 CC’s and the only reason I don’t have one now – is because I know I’d rarely be under a hundred MPH. Likewise with my Genesis. Eighty percent of the time – I’m driving 10 MPH over the speed limit. The other 20% of the time – I’m driving 30 to 50 MPH over the speed limit - and just can’t help it. I mean – how can you own a Genesis - and not use that power. And of course every G37 and alike that pulls aside – hey? It’s on.

What I’m about to tell you now – will save your wallet - if you’re ABLE to employ it 100% of the time you drive. Again: Not debatable – where I have used this technique for decades. It works. And that is – for radar to be effective – it has to get a straight - head on look-see of your car racing towards it.

In order to get a straight on show of you car – the officers (who never ever speed themselves when off duty – ohhhhhh yehhhh) have to be in front of you – and obviously – on one side of the road or the other. In order to do this – they typically have to PARK - which is where my wallet saving technique comes into the picture. And that is – if you see a car parked along EITHER side of the road – slow down. I’m not talking neighborhoods where there are cars everywhere. I’m talking any street outside of neighborhoods - in which the speed limit is at least 30.

Born with Eagle eyes – I can see a parked car – 5 times further away – than their radar ever hoped of working. And believe me – this has saved me literally – three times in the last 2 months alone – never mind countless times in the past.

Again: If you are even going over the limit by 10 MPH – and you see a parked car along either side of the road – SLOW DOWN to the limit. I have another way of handling this however. I slow down to like 15 to 20 (if no one is behind me) and drive that speed the half to three quarters of a mile till I go by the cop. And when I do – I smile and shake my finger from side to side like Baboo of Seinfeld – letting him know – not this time pal.

In all honesty – all of years of driving – this has saved my butt at least 50 to 75 times – if not more. On highways – hey? If you don’t employ this – you’re crazy. This is a must for highways. Any and EVERY car I see parked on the side of the road where a) there are no other cars and b) cars don’t park – I take the lead foot off the gas and it is a win!!

I'd be careful with that one. If you're on a highway with, say, a 65mph limit like the NY State Thruway, and you run across a trooper who might not appreciate being taunted, he can write you for driving too slowly. If you did that to me I certainly would.
