  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The phone in my G70 rang for the first time and I wondered what the ___ it was. Had the caller's name not shown up on the screen I would have had no idea what it was. In fact, it was a built in classical music ringtone...awful. I have looked in the settings for the car, phone and Android Auto and can find no way to change the ringtone. I have Googled the question and can find nothing. Has anyone figured out how to change the ringtone?

Old question still unanswered. I agree, the default tone is awful. Refreshing this question, anyone know if the default phone ring tone can be changed?

Don’t know what kind of phone you have. Is it an ancient flip phone? The ringtone that I have on my iPhone is the ringtone that plays in my ‘12 Genesis and in my ‘19 Santa Fe.

Galaxy Note 8 so it is a current model. The ring tone in the car is obnoxious and I can't believe it can't be changed...My BMW and my Mini play my phone's tone or let me select from a few stock ones.

I have noticed this as well. I hate the ring tone. It changed a while ago as well with one of the map updates. Samsung Galaxy S10+ here.

If you are using Android Auto then you get a better sound, but over bluetooth it is brutal.

Next time the phone rings and you hear that awful Genesis built in ring tone, turn the volume knob in the car all the way down. This will mute the car's built in ring tone and you will be able to hear your phone's built in ring tone.

I get the same ringtone that's on my phone through the speakers. Don't know why. Samsung Galaxy S9

I know this is an old thread but...of you phone is connected with Bluetooth and do "not" have Android Auto installed on your phone, your phones normal ringtone will play over the speakers. Once you I stall Android Auto, it will override your personal ringtone and play the one that comes in the car "which isn't able to be changed". So if you must use Android Auto, you're stuck with it. If you are good just using bluetooth, get rid of Android Auto and enjoy your ringtone.

In car menu:
1. Go to setup
2. Bluetooth settings
3. Select ringtone
4. Under use system ringtone, select the one you would prefer if it cannot use ringtone on phone
5. Go back to previous menu (Ringtone) and select Use Mobile Ringtone.
