  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Since I brought my 2015 Genesis 2yrs ago I keep dealing with when it rains the right side taillight goes out, until I guess it dries out then working again. I seen on here where that wire can be connected to the left side? Can someone please explain to me whats going on and how to explain to a shop to fix this to avoid the dealership. Thanks

Can you duplicate the problem using a hose? Cam you see a water leak?

Rather that play with changing wiring I'd look for the root cause first and it may be a simple fix of sealing a leak. Turn the lights on, grab a chair and a beer and spray the taillight area and work out from there.

Its weird tho, when I wash it and spray it with a pressure hose I dont have this problem at all. Never ever has happened when washing it, only when it rains..

I wonder if spray from the road affects it. I never crawled under to see if there is any way water can short something. Rain is usually more gentle than a hose spray too.

I went to a restaurant was dry out, was raining while there and came out started my car up and noticed it was out. So I dont think thats it because it been sitting. What do you suggest I do or where should I take it to have it looked at.

Only thing I can think of is spray but for a long enough time. All over the lights and trunk seam. Or take it to the dealer on a rainy day.

I see that your car has the updated Genesis trunk emblem in place of the Hyundai emblem. Therefore, I would first check to see if there is not a leak where the emblem is located since the Genesis emblem leaves a hole in the trunk lid which is usually seal by the emblem foam tape. However, it could be a place for water intrusion if the tape seal is compromised; which can short out some wiring especially since the 2015 models taillight wiring harness can be frayed with exposed/broken wires due to a bad mounting location.

Furthermore, the rear taillight housing itself could have a leaky seal that is allowing water inside the housing which could cause shorts.
