  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Beside Normal, Sport, and Eco, there is supposed to be a Snow model.

How do I get to it? When I toggle the button by the gear shifter, I only see the first three modes and no Snow mode.

So far, AWD has greatly helped on my icy and hilly driveway.

Press and hold the mode button for three seconds.

Ditto ^^

I remembered reading this thread. Earlier tonight, I decided to try this and it changed to snow mode. I thought only the HTRAC AWD had snow mode. Was pleasently surprised.

Any idea what snow mode does in the 2wd cars vs. the awd?

I noticed immediately upon engaging snow mode, throttle response became severely impeded/slowed. It's like the engine shut down 4 cylinders. Not sure about any other changes.

I just got off telephone with Hyundai Motoring of America. The rep advised "snow mode helps assist the driver experience on snow covered and slippery roads." The rep was pleasent, apologized for not having more information and the dealership would have more technical information.

She essentially just read from the manual :)

I have the AWD, but i just tried snow mode for the first time tonight. When cruising at 30 mph in snow mode, i mashed the gas and nothing happened. No down shift, no major throttle response. I would expect similar transmission/engine behavior from the RWD. It appears aimed at limiting wheel spin during acceleration.

"Snow" driving mode effect on mileage

This is a crazy idea, but would using Snow mode be a way to get better gas mileage? If Snow mode limits wheel spin and locks out first gear, then your mileage should get better.

YES! I thought only Canada got Snow mode: so cool!!!
Thanks guys and gals: as always you school me and I lurve being schooled!

Snow mode is for great for people who have no experience in the snow as in 1st time out there. Basically it is like replacing your engine with a lawnmower engine! Really, really takes away all power but this it what takes it work. If you do not have the power to spin the wheels in bad conditions they won't spin. That being said, it is so severely underpowered that it is down right dangerous. Not something I will ever use unless if I am stuck and hope this will get me out but then again if you are stuck with AWD it's not snow mode that will get you free, more like tow mode required. I can see the benefit on the RWD version on a car with summer tires in winter otherwise I will chalk this up as a useless feature for me however I have spent all my life behind the wheel in snow during the winter time.

Agreed. Perfect for the inexperienced snow driver. Sometimes the experienced snow driver wants a little tire spin to get the car to do what you want.

I am very happy with how the car drives with the Blizzaks installed.
