  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I wish to powder coat the "exhaust tips" in the rear bumper of my 2012 sedan 5.0 R-Spec.

But...it's not readily apparent how to remove them!

I removed the 2 screws underneath (see pic). The tip is now somewhat loose in the bumper plastic, but the exhaust itself seems to be in the way, as the now-loose tip seems to need to be moved towards the front of the car to get it out of the plastic bumper.

What's the trick to removing these without doing major disassembly?

Thank you,
-Jason

You will need to remove the muffler so you can push the tip out toward the front of the car. Mufflers should be easy to remove if you have jack stands and other basic guy stuff, just a couple bolts holding it together.
They're just bulky

Nice looking r-spec btw. I really like the painted wing badge, nice touch especially with having the remaining badging removed. I assume you plan to powder coat the exhaust tips black??? Please post a pic when completed, would love to see the completed product.

Thank you for your answers.

The catch is finding the time. 2 small kids & everything else drastically limit the time I have to jack up the car & wrench on it. I think I was able to devote about 2.3 minutes in the last 2 weeks to look into this. :]

Thanks for confirming the removal procedure, Buford--can do it...when I find some time.
Statguy, thanks for the compliments. Don't hold your breath waiting on the results of the black powder coating--it will be a little while...

Now, finding time to get the wheels powder coated is another story... :]

Thanks,
-Jason
