  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How to tell if my 2015 3.8 is real HTRAC (not just a badge)?

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a 2015 Genesis 3.8 that has an HTRAC badge on the back, and I want to make sure it’s actually AWD and not just a badge someone added.

When I start the car, I get an AWD light/indicator in the cluster for a few seconds, then it goes off, which from what I understand is normal behavior when the system does its self‑check and there’s no fault.

Other than the badge and the brief AWD light on startup, what’s the best way to confirm it’s a real HTRAC AWD car?

If anyone with a 2015 Genesis 3.8 HTRAC can share how their cluster behaves on startup or what to look for underneath, that would really help. I just want to be sure it’s a genuine HTRAC and not a debadged RWD with a random emblem.

Thanks in advance!

There are some web sites that will give you the window sticker from the VIN. Do a Google search and a few will come up

It is January, if you live up north there will be snow/ice to try it with. Mine was great going up snow covered hill
I really doubt anyone would bother adding the HTRAC badge though.
