  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just completed a 1700 Mile road trip over 3 days.....Easily got 28 MPG doing 70 mph......until I hit a 30mph headwind in the midwest and then .....lucky to get 23 mpg all day.

Are you sure you didn't get different gas upon filling up?

I'm sure a 30 mph headwind will kill your mileage. Going 70 into that wind gives you 100 mph over the body and you soon realize that your car's not really meant for those speeds and the only way to get there is to burn dinosaurs. Heck a Cessna Citation 1 (private jet) is in the air at that airspeed and as much as I love my Genesis it does not have a pointy nose and tail feathers.

Head winds play significant roll. It is an invisible wall.
Aircraft can lose 25% or gain 100 mph and save significant time with tail winds.

Add rain, more so with road tire depressions/ruts filled with water-like a boat anchor.
