  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How would I go about selling this?

Hi Guys, about 6 months ago I purchased the winged airbag and replaced my current airbag with it and it has been sitting around until i had time to sell it.

Well i go today and look in my closet and see my airbag look like this:'

Not sure why it's a little rusted looking, but I'm sure it's fully functional still, right? I haven't touched it in 6 months. Will this make it so that I can't sell it? I'm looking to sell it much cheaper then the retail as I just want at least some profit back but never shipped an airbag before.

Some folks here have reported success selling their airbags on eBay. I had no luck with mine, even pricing it below others currently for sale. My listing is still active, but I have received no bids after re-listing it three different times. I would think that repair shops, body shops, whatever, would be interested but I haven't had any response.

Have you tried the "buy it now" feature on Ebay? I didn't have my up for bid, I just had a fixed price, which made it simple for myself along with the buyer.

OP - I don't think it should be an issue, but if it bothers you enough, use a wire brush on the rust spots as it's just surface rust.

I think commercial enterprises would probably avoid any used automotive safety device due to our nation's epidemic overpopulation of attorney/litigators.

Sale to a private individual is somewhat more likely, but not as likely as if the car were a 2000 BMW or 1995 Jaguar. Under most circumstances, insurance takes care of replacement costs, or simply the income of our cars' owner demographics.

I could agree, and interesting enough the buyer for my airbag was a parts company:)

Thanks guys for the help. I will put it up on eBay and hopefully get a seller. I do still have the stick on wing on the airbag so maybe that will help a little in selling it.

When I ship it, is there anything special I need to do? Like package wise?

When you post an airbag for sale, eBay pops up a caveat addressing different states' regulations regarding airbag shipping.

I have a Buy it Now price, but it hasn't attracted any action.

I take it all back - I finally sold my airbage on eBay, after 3 insertions of the ad over 18 months. It took a while, but it's done. That makes the net cost of my wings airbag about $150.

Remember guys when airbags go off most the time the car is totaled
