  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Everyone,
Prior to my Genesis V6 AWD, I had an Infinity G37 AWD. Leaving my neighborhood, there is a right turn, uphill, onto a 50 mph road. Needless to say, you have to get on the gas pretty quick sometimes.

My question is this. When the road is wet, or in the last few days, snowy, the Genesis seems to cut power completely, rather than just cut the wheels losing traction. It then hesitates for a moment and restores power and goes. When trying to get out into traffic, this is a bit hairy.

My G37 would not act this way, power would be reduced, but there would not be this hesitation. Is this a potential issue I should have looked at, or is it just a function of the Htrac system that I have to get used to?

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks in advance!

Try letting it warm up for a few minutes before leaving home. I've had a similar experience when the car was cold.

It has happened in other situations as well, I think when warm. It's also a few minutes after leaving my house before I get to this spot. I'll try it out when warm and pay attention to it then.

The esc and traction control are well suited for a Jamaican driving in snow for the very first time. :roll eyes: Very conservative. If you really want to have fun then hold the esc off button for about 5 seconds until both the traction control and esc are off, which will give you an indication in the dash between the 2 gauges. This still keeps some safety in there so you cannot get yourself into major trouble, believe me I have tried. You do end up with the seatbelt squeezing you on a regular basis though.

I've had it happen when the car was quite cold and have also been able to give (and GET) full throttle start from a complete stop in a full locked right turn tramped to the floor with no nanny interference. My only guess (aside from a slippery surface) is that it is emission programming or something similar that is turning the granny on and off under these circumstances. If so, it would probably require full operating temp before it would allow full throttle starts. We'll probably hear more from others soon. :)

I'm in normal mode when this is happening.
I tried snow mode in the snow and it felt like I could walk faster, lol, so unless I'm caught in a big one, I won't be using that again.

Snow mode is a joke, never would I consider using this, ever. In fact when I did try it the first time I was passed by road kill

I actually tried it today on my way back from work. Wow. It is a joke. I thought I had accidentally turned the engine off, that's how limp the car was.

By holding the esc off button for about 5 seconds will turn off both the traction control and esc?

Yep, you will get a message on the dash indicating so.

Sweet can't wait to try it out in 15 min!!!

Wow holding down the traction control button located 2 buttons ober from the fuel door release for 5 seconds makes a huge difference in how the car reacts. Almost no lag or delay when hitting the gas. Good to know!!!

This will probably prolong brake pad life as well. Because the brakes play a big part of the stability control.
