  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2011 Genesis has a blown head gasket. My mileage is 100575. Has anyone had success working with Hyundai when mileage is just over the 100,000 point?

Be there on Monday to present your case with your maintenance records. It will help greatly if you have had the car maintained religiously by that same dealer. If you are not the original owner, you will definitely be SOL. If you are, you may have a chance.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll let you know what they say

Don’t forget too that you can take the matter above the dealer, if necessary. No doubt such questions are fielded every day at the Hyundai HQ.

Just keep in mind it is a negotiation. By the book they owe you nothing but asking for help will hopefully get you something. Good luck.

Thanks! I will keep that in mind.. If they would agree to to cover 50%, I would be very grateful. Still hoping they cover it entirely.....

Has anyone ever dealt with the Ellis Group, Atlanta, on a warranty issue?

You will stand a better chance if a Hyundai dealer was maintaining the car over the years, because an issue like that would probably got noticed during a service check. There are usual signs to head-gasket issues like over heating and rough idling that a service tech should picked up on; so they may be more inclined to help if it could be proved they missed the issue at one of their shops.

However, it could never hurt to ask Hyundai to cut you a break even if your car was never serviced by them. If they say no; then you just drop in a used or re-manufactured engine if the head gasket repair bill is over $3K.

Used 3.8 engines can be had for about $1200.
