  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I received an email today from an independent company Hyundai has hired to do a purchase survey on the Equus. Now, I have had my 2010 4.6 for less than two months. The survey asked if I was aware of the Equus launch in April-NO. Would I buy one in three months-NO. They then asked why. In addition, they showed pictures as well as a feature comparison chart against Lexus, BMW and Mercedes, etc. They then asked if I would purchase the car for between 50k and 60K.

I am blown away as to why Hyundai is sampling their installed base which is mostly Sonata and lower end instead of going out and buying lists from State DMV's of Lexus, etc owners.

My personal feeling is that Hyindai has done a very poor job of advertising/marketing the Genesis and has uterly failed in launching the Equus brand. They need to build brand awareness in the market for both the Genesis and Equus. They cannot just depend on the cult following that we provide them.

Did anyone else get this Equus survey?

I have not received this survey. I find it interesting they would send this survey to an owner who just purchased as opposed to those of us who have had their Genesis for almost, if not more than a couple of years. Maybe this is just a sales ploy from your dealership. That is if your dealer is one of the chosen few who will sell the Equus. Since we have been told that not all Hyundai dealerships will sell the Equus.

Please post topics about the Equus in the Equus forum. (moved)

I had the same thoughts. I purchased in early '09, and my car seems practically new. This thing will be with me for 5+ years and I'm not even entertaining the thought of sinking money into a new car already. Next time around, maybe, but not now.

Maybe Hyundai is searching for a specific demographic to focus on. Just imagine for saying you will be interested in buying an Equus, they will send the latest updates and maybe even schedule a test drive, and offer a discounted price just for answering the survey.

BTW, I bought mine in May 2010
