If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All,

I hope this is the right place to post this but, I have a question regarding the ECM on a 2014 Hyundai Equus Signature. The ECM that is in my car (Part Number 39110-3FVN0) has fried itself, and I noticed that there is also another ECM that looks very similar that was used in 2014 Equus Signature models as well, Part Number 39110-3FVN1.

I know the difference is that the 3FVN0 ECM is regulated to California emissions standards, and the 3FVN1 ECM is only federally regulated. My question, can I replace my 3FVN0 ECM with a 3FVN1 ECM? I know you can't go the other way around, as the 3FVN0 ECM would be looking for sensors or parameters that are not there or are not correct. But I've read that you can swap from a California regulated ECM to just a federally regulated one with multiple other vehicles (Toyota, Nissan, etc.)

The federally regulated ECM is MUCH (~$500) cheaper than the California one, so this is why I am posing this question. Any and all insight would be appreciated!

Wondering if you every got an answer to this question. I also have a 2014 Signature with a dead ECU. I am having a hard time finding a replacement 3FVN0 or anyone that is able to clone my ECU. Really appreciate any information you may have.

I just had the ECM to my 2014 Signature replaced and programed by Module Masters, turns out
Equus had an issue with ECMs frying. Maybe best to let them look at yours

I just ended up buying one from HyundaiPartsDeal.com for $1200 and programming it myself with a scan tool that I got for $400. All that needs to be programmed is the VIN into the ECM.

So $1600 for both the ECM and scan tool is better than the $2500 for the stealership to "Program" it. It literally takes less than 10 minutes. Just gotta make sure you get the VIN correct when you are entering it.

As for the original question, I am still unsure. Most of the techs I talked to said that the 3FVN1 ECM will NOT work with a car that came with the 3FVN0 ECM. I haven't been able to find proof either way however.

Hello, I'm in the same situation right now as u were. So I bought a used ECM same exact part number as my original one. I have an Autel scanner can I rewrite my vin into the ECM I purchased? Do u know? Any help will be gladly appreciate.

What scan tool did you use to program it ?

This is the exact one I used. I got it on sale at the time, but they have others that are more expensive and such. I do however HIGHLY recommend this one, as its gotten me out of a pinch many more times than I care to admit. Lol

wondering this as well. I have an Autel 808 and will be ordering another ECM this week. My scanner shows the option to change to a new VIN, but not sure it will work properly until I try it
Good luck! I dont know anything about the Autel models, so I cant tell you if it works or not. But if you have the option to write the vin to the new ECM once you install it, it should work. Just make SURE you double, triple and quadruple check the number. AFAIK, you cant rewrite the vin, so if you get even one number/letter wrong, it could mean ordering another ECM. At least thats what I was told.

Tried to write new VIN with my Autel 808, but said VIN was already written and no option to continue. The dealer in my town said they could not do it. Sent off and had it cloned for $150 from "ECMTeam" team on eBay. New ECM works fine, but did not solve my initial problem.
