  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all - am one week into owning my new 2015 AWD Genesis and so far really love the car. Previously had a 2000 Acura TL that I owned for 12+ years. Super reliable car but with 190k on the clock, it was time to go. I'm most recently coming from a 2006 Acura RL with SHAWD. Being from a Northern tier state, it completely convinced me of the benefits of AWD. I have always bought used cars, but when we let the TL go (which my son was using), he inherited the RL and being nearly 50, decided that it would be nice to own a brand new car for once! I really liked the RL, except for the ride. The previous owner had installed 20" very low profile tires/wheels on it, and while it looks great, the ride allowed you to enjoy every expansion gap and defect in the pavement. Like a lot of you, I'm to the place where a quiet, smooth, yet non-boat handling ride has become more important. I no longer need to corner completely flat! I looked at the Audi A6 Quattro TDI. Man, what a car! 38mpg and 0-60 in under 6 secs. But $20k buys a lot of fuel, and the Hyundai won me over with the best "bang for the buck" by far! So, I'm a first time new car, first time Hyundai owner and glad to see there's an active forum. Right now, with the cold, my favorite feature is the heated steering wheel. I also love the HUD, technology, ride, quietness... by FAR the best car I've ever owned. I've done a few Mods which you can see below, but I really don't expect to do much else to her, except enjoy. Hope I can contribute over the coming years!

Welcome Schindawg my feelings are the same about my Genesis. I see you had the clear bra treatment applied. I had the whole front end to the front doors covered hood and all. You'll find a wealth of information here. Enjoy yourself.:welcome:

Welcome to the zoo. ;) You have probably made the best car purchase ever regardless of the fantastic value behind it. Welcome and enjoy the ride.

Welcome! If you're like me I think you'll continue loving it! It's been just great. :)

:welcome: to the forum. You will love this place as everyone is willing to help. Your gonna love your new ride and will find all the little things added by Hyundai as time goes by. The longer you own it, the more things you will find. Just an amazing vehicle all around.

Thanks everyone! I'm on about page 275 of our 550+ page owners manual. Haven't even got to the DIS Nav manuals yet. Sheesh! Looks like I'll be studying for quite some time!

If you come across anything interesting during your read that you think we might not know about, please post it.

Will do! I've been reading most of what's been going on in the forum for the last month or so, so if I come across anything cool, I'll let everyone know!

Strangely enough one of my greatest enjoyments is reading the manuals. All my friends think I’m crazy they “nobody really does” . I’ve read both manuals and the quick user guide there’s always something I forgot or overlooked and it always comes out on the forum. So visit frequently.

I like to read the manuals too, but holding those fat suckers comfortably is nearly impossible.

If you rip the alternative language pages completely out of the DIS manuals, they will be easier to hold for reading and fit into the manual case--with the owners manual.

Hyundai should provide single language manuals to reduce the bulk. Even if they think that it is necessary to give everyone the full selection, the printing cost for 5 small manuals is only about 4 covers more than 1 thick manual.

I have the full manual, Quick Reference Guide and bluelink manuals up in the cloud. Can access them via tablet, smartphone, etc. so don't even have them in the car.

Hyundai should include the English manual in the US cars. Other languages should be available for free on request. That would save money and allow those that want an alternate language to get it.

The freakin manual takes up 1/2 the glove box and must weigh in at 4lbs which really annoys me so I put it in a ziplock bag and it now resides with the spare in the trunk in case I might need it one day. On the other hand it's much faster to ask here. ;)

I for one would like to see as a minimum a quick reference guide embedded into the car navigation/entertainment system.
As more and more luxury car manufacturers are moving toward 4g/lte infrastructure this would help ease the need of papered manual.

The manual is available to view in the Nav system...

Schindawg, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Genesis! I believe you will find that this car is the best vehicle in the segment, independent of price - at least this is what I believe! Just last night I drove a couple of friends to see our college play the first conference basketball game of the season and they remarked just how much they enjoy my car. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I just hit 1000 miles tonight--the best 1000 miles I've ever had in a car. I plan to drive her 550 more miles this week. I've never before looked forward to driving like I do now.
