  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai fires U.S. chief Zuchowski

Lol you got burned and now you're talking to him about what his bedtime should be? wow

Do the honorable thing and apologize.
Yes, it looks like it probably was Dave's personal car. I said that a salesman might lie about it, and I never said that you lied.

WHAT you just can't apologize. ?????

You email the CEO of the company to get a problem resolved with your car? That seems extreme.

I may have started this trend. Sometimes it is necessary, and it seemed to be an excellent way to expedite major continued issues with problems at dealerships (e.g. multiple occurrences of the same major issue and it not being resolved). My link below is my example.

Dave Zuchowski was a great guy who always helped us out when we had problems. If you search for his name you will see he helped a bunch of people here.

Unless there's some back-story that we're unaware of, seems awfully short-sighted on the part of Hyundai.

By all accounts, Zuchowski was well liked by the US dealers and he was the one pushing for more crossovers, as well as the Santa Cruz pick-up.

Don't see why the blame should fall on Zuchowski shoulders when it was the decision-makers in Korea who were short-sighted about the increased reliance on crossovers, SUVs and trucks for the US market (which was pretty evident some years ago).

Agree - in his defense I don't think I have ever seen one commercial for the Genesis. There was one for the Hyundai brand I saw that had the Genesis in it but that's it. When Lexus/Infiniti announced their premier brands back in the '90s they advertised them like crazy. It's such a great car that if they had had just a modest ad campaign they would have increased sales I'm sure. We've had so many compliments on our car, how attractive it is etc and they all ask 'what is it'? We'll have them make a guess and most say Jaguar.

You'd think with the new Genesis brand announcement it would be all over the televison and not just the auto shows etc. Let's hope they're preparing some now which will only help the value of our cars.

There were a few weeks of ads on the NFL at launch, but not much after that. Compare that to Volvo for the XC90, and now the new S90. How many times have you see those ads?
I must see that S90 ad 5 to 6x a day, every day for weeks on end.

Major car mag had 2 page ads for 2 months (not very good ads) now nothing. the Only area in Wisconsin that stocks the G80 and 90 is 2+ hours from my location......Madison Wi. has 2 Hyundia dealerships and never had a decent selection of Genesis sedans,,,, They NEVER stocked the 2017 G80 and never sold a G90......
When and if I decide to replace my 2015 Genesis I won't drive 2+ hours. Madison is a high income area and is the State Capitol plus very low unemployment...BUT no Genesis dealer. Madison has BMW,Audi,M.B., Volvo, Inf..Lexus and Acura ------BUT NO GENESIS

They will need to step it up a notch! Hyundai/Genesis makes some really great cars, but the Marketing plan leaves a lot to be desired.
We both owned Azeras. In my case, it was hands down the best, most trouble free car I have ever owned. In South Korea, the Grandeur is considered every bit the equal of the Lexus ES350. In the US market, hardly anyone even knows that car exists!

I'm very happy with my Genesis despite a few teething issues. (now solved) If Hyundai wished to compete with Lexus and Infiniti, they need to get the name out there so folks know about Genesis.

Part of the problem is local dealers do not promote the higher end products... The Madison dealer didn't even have the Azera on the showroom floor.
I don't think the salespeople even know how to sell a higher priced item

WHAT you just can't apologize. ?????
I was out of town and just got back, so here is my belated response:

I admitted that based on the window sticker he later posted, it was probably was Dave's personal car (assuming he didn't give to someone else at HMA after he got delivery). I assumed that a used car salesman told him (without any proof) that it was Dave's personal car, hence my skepticism.

In my years on this forum I have posted stuff that many people have asked me for proof of what I claimed (such as a link). I don't have any objection to that (unless I have posted it several times previously), and I don't consider it an insult against me when people ask me for proof.

I am sorry if glennk was offended, but not sorry for asking for some kind of proof (which he did provide). Not sure why he didn't provide the window sticker, or even mention it, up front.
