  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey Guys, new user here, but wasn’t the genesis exchange program given on the 15-16 sedans?

I’ve run into problems with getting an exchange vehicle, since the genesis is no longer part of Hyundai.
I think this would constitute a breach of contract if it was they don’t have a genesis in stock to exchange (some of the dealerships couldn’t use the genesis program).

I’m just tired of getting treated like a sub par customer because Hyundai isn’t supporting the genesis like it used to.

What do you mean by "Genesis Exchange Program"? Never heard of it.

What country do you live in?

The 2009-2016 Hyundai Genesis models are still Hyundai brands, and are still serviced by Hyundai dealers (warranty and non-warranty repairs). Starting in 2017, the Genesis brand was created in the USA, but Genesis Motors USA still reports to Hyundai Motor America. If you live outside the USA, things may be different.

Contract? If you are in the USA there is no contract, no guaranteed loaner on the 15/16 model. You, like I used to, own a Hyundai. Some dealers treat you better than others, just as every brand of car does. They are individually owned and operated.

As for being treated sub par, I have no idea. Sometimes dealers do that, sometimes customers act sub par and get treated accordingly. I have no idea of your circumstances, but I do hope you enjoy your Hyundai.

Yea, its all based on dealership most Hyundai dealerships doesn't offer loaner program. Lucky me that the dealership I went to offers loaners and treated me good.

OK, I guess he means "loaner" when his car is being serviced. I missed that, and did not understand what Genesis Exchange was.

Here is a summary of loaner car policy so far in the US (just like warranties, this may vary in other countries):

2009-2016 Hyundai Genesis - just like any other Hyundai, loaners are provided at discretion of the dealer and there is no requirement from Hyundai Motor America that USA dealers offer loaners (dealers are independent business and not owned by Hyundai). Some dealers give out loaners on their own, and some do not, based on a number of factors. However, if a car is in the shop for a warranty repair, especially if overnight, Hyundai Motor America "may" decide to authorize a loaner and reimburse the dealer.

2011-2016 Hyundai Equus - Hyundai provides concierge service where they pickup your car, drop off a loaner, and deliver your car when repairs or service is completed. I believe this is for the first 3 years or 36K miles, but not 100% sure.

2017-2018+ Genesis Motors (G80, G90, etc) - Concierge service basically the same as the Hyundai Equus for the first 3 years or 36K miles. Also includes free scheduled service during same time frame.

As Mark_888 and others have said, it is totally up to the Dealer. I have always been able to get a loaner vehicle from my dealer, ranging from an Elantra to an Equus, regardless of whether my car is in for an oil change or warranty work. In the past, they would even rent a vehicle from Enterprise for me if they didn't have an in-house loaner available. Lately I have been getting a G80 Demo to drive. I do have Extended Warranty, but by the book, they are only obliged to provide a loaner if they keep my car overnight. I have been fortunate to have a good dealer close by and they go out of their way to keep their customers happy.

My local dealer only has one or two loaner cars and I havenever been able to snag one. To get a dealer loaner you need to reserve it weeks in advance and they dont like to make service appointments for some reason. Everytime I tried to get an actual loan and made an appointment when the appointment date came I would always get the old story "sorry someone checked out the loaner by mistake". But they always have offered a free rental car. I would just rather have a nice clean loaner than a nasty smelly compact rental. I would like to know what kind of car they consider the Genesis to be since when they offered rentals for my Sonata they considered that a compact car so I was offered compact rentals.

I don't think a loaner is based on that. It is based on the fact that the dealer is trying to cut expenses as much as possible, and since Hyundai Motor America does not require dealers to offer loaners (except on Equus, G80, or G90), then there is no guarantee of a loaner. Some buyers ask for loaner clause to be added to the sales contract at time you buy the car (you can hand write it in a blank space on the sales contract and have both buyer and dealer initial it). I always add clauses to the contract such as no dealer sticker or emblem, etc.
