If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I noticed paint bubbling about the size of an eraser head just outside the curve above the wheel on the rear quarter panel. The paint and clear coat are intact it's just that the paint is bubbling. I took it to the dealer to gt it repaired under warranty. My car is a 2009 Genesis sedan. The warranty states that body penetration damage is covered for 7 years unlimited miles. Paint is 3 years. So the service department rep says that he will have to take a picture of it and send it away to the regional rep to see if they will cover it. Today I get an answer stating no its a paint problem. I've been around enough to know that if you have intact paint and clear coat then the problem lies underneath the paint and that problem is rust. The inner fender wall may have not received the proper paint application therefore it's rusting from the inside out. I'm not done with them but I'm very frustrated at the moment especially when the regional rep is working off of a picture to make the decision. I was curious if anyone else had an issue similar to mine?

Hi, first off I would contact Hyundai HelpLine & get case number regarding the problem. Second I would visit a local bodyshop & get a written estimate..
Then I would call and make an appointment with the Service Manager and tell him you are not happy (offer the case number & estimate)..Go from there..
FYi:- the photograph thing" is something that is happening more & more..
As a thought, Are You sure It is not a bad body work repair from earlier in the cars life?...

Did you buy the car new? Any chance that area was repainted?

Just curious as to where you live that the car would have a rust problem?

Got news for everyone...Hyundai does not stand behind their warranty as stated. I had a new Hyundai with 3K on it, and had some kind of green slimmy stuff coming from the hood and blowing out across the top of the hood. The dealer was great, but when shown to the Hyundai USA lady, she said it wasn't warrantable?? WTF? The dealer was pissed, but it didn't get me any love. They know it takes $$ to take them to court, got another garage to fix the problem by sealing the hood...$75. Next car.....someone who will actually warrant the vehicle...

Shoe fits... I say wear it!

I don't buy it honestly. If the dealer was good, they would have taken care of it NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Did you meet with the USA rep in person or did you go off of what your dealer told you?

It's what the Hyundai USA lady said to my face, the dealer rep said to her, don't you see the problem, she said "I don't care were not covering it" and walked away from both of us. He said "that's BS!" and that sir was the end of it. Got it fixed someplace else.

Still sounds to me like the dealer took you for a ride. At the point the dealer says they won't help you for what is clearly a defect, you need to find another dealer and try again. I'm guessing the dealer escalated it to corporate on your behalf right?

You dealt with, at most, the regional service rep. There is a pretty good track record on here for people who escalate to corporate and reach a favorable resolution. Reach out to the contact number on the hyundai website and open a case. I'd be shocked if they dont do something for you.

I had a previous car get broken into and the dealership that replaced the window left glass in the door. I took it to another dealership who took the whole door apart again and got all of the glass out with no further cost to me. Again, a good dealership will JUST TAKE CARE OF IT!

I purchased the car new in Nov. of 2009.
It is washed and detailed on a regular basis.
I'm just getting the run around.

Thanks for chiming in. I am the original owner. I've taken care of the car.
It's never been in for a repair. I thought about doing just as you described meaning going to the body shop and have them in writing document what they see and what the repair is going to entail and then bring it to the service manager but I think all work orders and estimates go thru the service desk at this Hyundai Dealer ship. In my mind I'm doing them a favor because the bubbling paint is just the size of a pencil eraser head. I can let it go and its going to get worse.

I have another card up my sleeve but I don't want to play it yet. I bought an Extended premium warranty which states in Black and White that they will fix any paint damage with me having to pay the deductible which is $100.00
At this point I don't feel that it is paint damage because the paint and clear coat are intact. I want them to honor the penetration warranty. Your right I'm probably going to loose in the end with the original warranty but I'm going to go down fighting.

I didn't meet the USA rep in person. The service manager at the dealership took a picture of it and sent it to a Regional rep down here in NC. No one from the body shop even looked at the car. One photo sent via email with a lady located who knows where saying NO it's paint damage. Paint and clear coat are intact.
It's all a bunch of BS in my mind.
