  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was cruising home from work yesterday and noticed 8 18-wheelers loaded with cars heading out?????

My friend had an oil change scheduled this week and they called him and told him POINT BLANK...you need to take your car elsewhere...CLICK.

I have been calling and leaving messages like crazy. I have a 2 year oil change special through them and a free carwash whenever I want one...and now what???

I cruised through the dealership this morning at 5am and all the computers were up and running, the tvs were on, but no sign of life...nor a sign on the door.

The next nearest dealership is in Huntsville.

DANG:mad: Something FISHY is going around...and I can smell it!

Have any of you seen anything like this?

Hmmmm....

Ok, that is a new location, but it just happens to be 1/4 mile down from where it was and as of right now, the new location is currently a parking lot for the biggest church in Morgan County.

I looked at their website yesterday and it was down so that kind of told me something was going on.

Even at church last night EVERYBODY asked what had happened to the dealership...I told them "I dont know...but overall, Hyundai is still making money!" LOL

Something like that is BIG news...especially for these smaller towns.

Ok...just got off the phone with the GM.

SAD story....they are closing/closed. He said the owner called them last week saying they were going to close for business along with 4 other dealerships he owns. I am friends with the GM and believe it or not...he started crying to me over the phone. He is trying to work out a way to purchase the business so that he can open it back up. I asked him what the issue was and he said it was not that we are not selling cars...Its the "DAMN" banks.

I even went on to ask him about my 2 years of oil changes and he began crying again...gave me his address...and said he will change my oil at his house whenever I need it.

THEN...I started tearing up. I hate it for all the families touched by this and I told him that if there was anything I could do for him to give me a call.

WOW...this economy is really starting to hurt everybody and I have seen it first hand.

Well, I will post more as it comes available.

Here in Vegas we've had a few closures. Seems like your guy is actually taking responsibility and seems to care. Out here, they not only tell their customers to "bug off", they don't even tell their employees they've been laid off. The people just come to work one day and see a sign on the locked door, "Closed, call 555-5555 to pick up your paycheck".

You may recall a thread earlier about dealer bankruptcies and the problem that causes for people who purchased a car, but have not been titled yet. If your dealer declared bankruptcy, just feel lucky it happened after you got title to your car.

If the dealership did go into bankruptcy, there is no longer a legal obligation to do the oil changes, although you could ask the bankruptcy court to add you as a creditor, but you would probably be pretty far down the priority list (usually the bank loans are secured by the cars, and mortgage is secured by the land and building, with no assets left over after that).

IMO, asking him to do the oil changes at his home would just be humiliating the guy even more that he has been already.

Sorry to hear that Matt. You know, the more the government is out to help these so called banks, the less money is being loaned to the consumers to turn this economy around. They're holding on to the money to 'make up' for losses? Give me a freakin' break. Meanwhile these banks are just as guilty in contributing to the economic slump.

Since we're discussing the "banks" here - which IS the problem for these dealerships, I'm going to break one of my own rules and post a link to a political site. I don't normally like political discussions because they often turn into flame wars - but I think this thread may be an exception. If this turns into a flame war, I will remove it...

This nonsense really needs to stop. And it won't unless we make it...
