If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. You need to give us some detail. What did the dealer say.? Why aren’t they fixing it?

Since you didn’t bother to give any details, I’ll assume that you are not the original owner of the car. Therefore, you are not eligible for a powertrain warranty beyond the 5/60,000 basic new vehicle limited warranty.

I am the original owner.VIN # KMHGC4DD1CU182150.Hyundai Customer Service case # 12341664.The local Hyundai dealer needs authorization from Hyundai Tech and Hyundai Tech is ordering test after test after test without arriving to a conclusion.Three weeks of test.No fixing. No loaner.Holidays approaching. Not honoring warranty. What else can I tell you ?

Did you pay for the tests? If yes, you may be correct but we don't know if you are still under warranty. If no, they are honoring the warranty. You give no indication of the problem. It is possible that they have not been able to figure out the problem but are trying.
I understand your frustration, but you still give no details. What model? I'm not taking the time to look up your VIN. BTW, it is VIN, not VIN#. You are saying Vehicle Identification Number number.

Jorge — reads like you’re having a frustrating situation.

Folks on this board would only be helpful to you to advocate more effectively with the management and ultimately owner of the dealership. To do so, though, would require some more information to help guide the discussion such as:

1) Dealership name and if you purchased the car there.

2) What “transmission problems” brought the car into the shop in the first place? Do you have records of regular maintenance?

3) What tests are being ordered? This info may help understand the pacing function of what is the expected timeframe for a diagnosis.

If you just want a loaner, have you brought your request to the service manager? Corporate might be helpful but the local leadership is where the best help can be had in my experience.

Car problems during the holidays tend to make people stressed. Hopefully you’ll keep us updated on the results of your efforts.

I have a Genesis 2012 with 75,000 thousand miles.I am the original owner.Definitively under warranty. The car has been identified with a transmission problem.I am not a mechanic so I do not understand what more "details" do you want. The car has been 3 weeks at the local dealership and they are conducting test after test ordered by Hyundai Technical Department.Three weeks of tests have gone by.Can not fix the problem. No loaner.I have no car.No transportation.I have complained to the dealer and to Hyundai Customer Service Department.Nothing happens.I feel Hyundai is not honoring its powertrain warranty !

Hyundai is not honoring the power train warranty because the car has transmission problem,I am the original owner, car has 75,000 miles and is 6 years old and a record of maintenance

EdP I did not asked you to look at my VIN nor to lecture me about the right way to write VIN; all that is irrelevant. You should have focused on the main issue I was looking for advise in this forum. What to do when Hyundai does not honor its power train warranty and leaves a Genesis owner without transportation for more than 3 weeks ?

You did not give enough information. If you want help, you have to help yourself first. No one here can diagnose the problem or offer solutions.

You say they are no honoring the warranty. They are. They are attempting to find the problem so they can fix it. It is not to your satisfaction and that I can understand. After 3 weeks they should be able to.

At this point you should be contacting a regional manager or such. If you complain to the right people they may replace it since they don't seem to be able to find the problem. Again, we have no idea if the car is drive-able or not. Is it a serious problem or minor annoyance.

You've been asked for more information but have not given enough for help.

This photo details the 2012 powertrain warranty. Note the EXCLUSIONS. Your car, just like my ‘12 Genesis, is 7 model years old. Exactly what coverage do you expect Hyundai to provide beyond what the warranty details?

You still do not say what the problem is. Shifting? Slipping? Noise?
Transmissions have plenty of parts that have to work together. The transmission is also controlled by the computers so it may not be the actual trans. It could be a controller of some sort.

Give us a hint. Take your complaint up the ladder to a manager. Evidently they do not know what to fix. Meantime, help yourself with information. Just going off that they are not honoring the warranty meant nothing, helps no one.

Sorry, but your inconvenience is not covered by the 10/100,000 mile warranty. Read the warranty.

Look Jorge, no one is against you here. It might be much easier to inform others of the actual problem, instead of just saying Hyundai is not honoring their warranty. What is the actual problem with the transmission.

Wow. A lot of negativity from members. If the car is seven years old and has 75,000 miles, you are covered under the 10yr/100k mile warranty; simple. If I were you, I would go get the car and not return unless you get a loaner vehicle. The dealership does not have to give you one but since you're under warranty, it's common practice. I don't know how old you are but it definitely plays a role when it comes to dealership courtesy. The younger you are, the less willing they are to go the extra mile.

Go to the dealership and demand they give you a loaner. If not, demand they put your car back together, if applicable, and go to another dealership with loaners available.

Based on what Jorge is saying, Hyundai is attempting to fix the issue. He seems upset because it is taking a fair amount of time and they didn't offer him a loaner. He provides no information as to what the issue is, what the transmission was doing that lead him to believe there was a problem, not does he seem to have any understanding of how a vehicle works or what it takes to repair.

But based on what he is saying they are honoring the warranty, as written. They are attempting to fix the vehicle at no charge to him = honoring warranty.

No place in the warranty does it state he is entitled to a loaner car, or any type of compensation for the inconvenience, nor does it state that they can snap their fingers and magically fix it in a day or two.

Transmissions are complicated and troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing take time, and that is if there are no back ordered parts or supply issues.

3 weeks is not that long, I had a failed transmission on a 2005 Chrysler 300cSRT that was warranty covered and it to 9 weeks to get the car back. I was still within the bumper to bumper so I did get a loaner per THAT warranty by Chrysler, had I been out of the bumper to bumper and into the drivetrain warranty I would not have been given a loaner.

The issue in this thread is plain and simple, the OP doesn't have knowledge of how his vehicle works, does not understand what it takes to diagnose and repair the issue and wants an instant repair and for Hyundai to compensate him for the inconvenience of not having a vehicle, and no where within the warranty by Hyundai or any other manufacturer for that matter is your personal inconvenience covered. Nor does it state they will replace the part with a new part, the warranty entitles the customer to a repair done at no fee to the customer, plain and simple.

Hyundai is doing what they need to do and are obligated to do, testing and diagnosing the vehicle at no charge to the customer in an attempt to resolve the issue, Jorge seems to dense to grasp this, sorry if you find that negative or harsh, but that is the truth of the matter as I read it in this thread.

Jorge doesn't need to know how his vehicle works, he's not the one fixing it. Yes, repairs take time and in-depth searching to find the root cause. However, after three weeks, they should have an idea of what is going on. Just like my back-up camera issue. Seven, yes seven, weeks have gone by and the issue still isn't fixed. This is not within a reasonable amount of time of let Hyundai "figure out" what is going on. He'll eventually get it fixed but I agree with him and can empathize with his situation.

BTW, I'm a former 300 SRT8 owner myself. I can get past our bickering and notice commonalities. Good choice in car

I think we all can understand his frustration. Lets start off with the actual situation though. First, a question. Is this an honest statement?
Hyundai Technical Support does not Honor Warranty !

No, it is not. You can make a lot of true statements about their ability to diagnose, their overall competence, their ability to service. We've asked questions but got nothing in return that can help him. Meantime, Hyundai is making an effort to honor the warranty.

Is he entitles to a loaner? No. Should he have a loaner? Perhaps by this time they should help him, but, we don't know what took place. If you sit down with the service manager he may try to help, but if you approach a person like a mad man, you get the same in return. We have no idea what took place.

Only with some facts can anyone help him.
